This is a very good point (although I would say Ukraine’s decision required trust in Russia more than the U.S.) But there is no way Russia invades if Ukraine had 1,000 deliverable nuclear weapons. Not a chance. Nor will the U.S. invade North Korea for this reason. Many authoritarians saw what happened to Gaddafi vs. Jong-un or to Ukraine with and without nukes. As a result, nuclear proliferation will skyrocket.

shareUS has a number of military bases in South Korea. Do you think they are there on vacations? It is already clear now military technologies of North Korea are no match to South Korea, but you don't see them leaving, do you?
If North Korea ever fell, I have no doubt that the nuclear weapons would be received by US military.
