I followed him for a while to see if he was genuine

Short answer: Nope.

He's been "saved" for a few months, and he's already preaching at people, baptizing people, acting like he knows it all. He'd make these pronouncements on Facebook, and folks who'd been saved a while and read the Bible through a few times would have to correct him on his doctrine. "We have to get him back to the right path," this one fellow told me. He hasn't been on the right path long enough to get off of it. I don't think he has a clue what the right path is, nor do I think he ever knew.

Apparently someone was appalled that he'd wear his "tighty-whities" (tight, white, hip-hugger undies) to baptize people in. The Bible praises modesty throughout, but he had an excuse for flying in the face of that -- he's a podcaster! So the Lord says one thing, but his being a podcaster trumps that.

It's one thing if, like the people in Corinth, Paul had to read them the riot act and they repented and walked the true path. But not this guy. He makes excuses for why what he's doing should be excused.

Anyone can get off the right path, but how you can tell if they're just "grifting" is by what they do when they're reproved. If, like the Corinthians, they repent and change their ways, they're real Christians. If they make excuses why they should be allowed to continue to do wrong, well, they're not interested in doing right, are they?

"But he seems so sincere!" You DO know he's an actor, right?
