Perfect for Sephiroth from the video game, Final Fantasy VII

For all fans on this board of the classic Playstation RPG...

It didn't hit me right away, but seeing Lee Pace in his makeup, hair, and Elven garb as Thandruil, I saw a resemblance as Sephiroth. Then I thought about it some more and found the resemblance even more uncanny. Even his demeanor as Thandruil is also strangely reminiscent of Sephiroth's character from the game: cold, bitter, taciturn.

If the people at Square-Enix ever come to the decision to make a live-action FFVII film (will not happen in this lifetime), I really can't imagine anyone else in the role. But then again, I'm not up to date on most fan-castings of Final Fantasy characters. The trouble with a film like that is finding castings for the other characters who would be even more troublesome to find a suitable actor for (Cloud Strife, the main character, notably).

Agreed! He certainly has the height and the bearing for the role.
Also, although I agree that casting for Cloud could be tricky I think the biggest worry would be ending up with something reminiscent of the Live Action DBZ film - costumes, weapons and fighting abilities from games and anime tend to be pretty outrageous and don't translate well to Live Action. Many experienced actors and directors are aware of this and not willing to take the risk.
Most of the western comic book>film adaptions have been great so far and Guardians of the Galaxy (another Lee Pace film) was a particularly fantastic and surprising success so there's certainly hope - they all managed to stay pretty true to their original stories and designs (with obvious adjustments to the female members costumes to preserve some on-screen modesty).
That said, I suspect serving Japanese ingredients to western audiences is a trickier task.

If you disagree god will reach down from the heavens & bust your chops. That's science.
