Crowdfunding Campaign to Aid South African Township

On Twitter on March 10 Lee and Joe Maile, the director of Revolt asked for contributions to a Crowdfunding Campaign to Aid a South African Township they became acquainted with when they filmed the movie. They met their goal of $15K in less than 24 hours. They now have $40K I believe thanks to a little bit of tweeting from Lee.

I hope it shows him how many people love him and want to hear more from him on social media.

I'm impressed at people's generosity but also by Lee's tweeting thanks to individual contributors. What a guy!

(I know it was one of the incentives for contributing, but he still had to agree to it. I don't think many actors would agree to spend so much time tweeting individual fans. )

Any famous person who had the response this request had should thank everyone. It helps insure if they ask for money again, they'll get it.

I totally agree, but few do more than a general thank you, if that. Personalizing responses is a good way to attract contributions.

I've been really impressed with the campaign so far. Also, I hope the movie is at least somewhat good so it gets international release.

An actor named Alex Russel was originally going to play the part but somehow it went to Lee.
