¿Maddox rip-off?

Well, perhaps 'rip-off' is too strong a word.

Maddox the pirate (http://maddox.xmission.com--maybe you're familiar) owns a side project called I Am Better Than Your Kids (http://www.iambetterthanyourkids.com) where he reviews "user-submitted" artwork done by children before awarding it a letter grade A through F. An excerpt:

[On 8-year-old Jill's crayon drawing of fruit]: "Nice proportions, (silly) head. The orange looks like a plumb, the strawberry like a pineapple, and your future like unemployment."

Now, MTV.com hosts a web series called After Hours With Josh Horowitz where the host chats with famous folks, usually comedians (it's a bit like Between Two Ferns, as a reference point).

So Danny McBride guests on an episode, talking about his appreciation for fine art, and they do a segment called "Kids' Corner," wherein Danny reviews a piece of "user-submitted" artwork done by six-year-old Toby. When asked what he thinks about the piece, Danny says:

"I think Toby's an idiot...what is this?...Maybe it's an octopus and this is kelp? I don't know. Toby needs to maybe learn how to color inside the lines...Nice try, Toby."

Similarities exist. NEED MORE PROOF???? That's all I have, sorry.

Yes, this could have been cooked up by the writers of the skit. Yes, it could be coincidental. (In fact Maddox himself, as an April Fool's joke, recently posted on his site a photo journal mocking those who keep them. It reads a lot like The Office's Ryan Howard's mock photo blog (http://www.thousandandonewords.com), except less funny).
