very unusual name

She has a very unique and unusual name. Would be interesting to hear how and why her parents decided on that.

I can't help but think of the nursery rhyme..."itsie bitsie spider..." :)

Nickname for Elizabeth. :-)

Actually, that's incorrect. Bitsie was her grandfather's name. It is not a contraction for Elizabeth. This is per Wikipedia.

Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia. It can be changed by anyone, therefore not definitive as a dictionary.
I have known several Elizabeth's with nicknames similar to Bitsie: Bitzy, lil' bit, Bette (Bette Davis' real name was Elizabeth Davis), Bitty, and others.

My first name is Elizabeth and I'm usually called Liz. My mum used to called me Libby or Lil bet. The rest call me by my full name or Liz.

reply

It's not her real name or a nickname. Bitsie was her grandfather's name. She said so in an late night interview. I think it was jimmy Kimmel but I can't remember for sure. You can YouTube it. She chose it as a stage name to honor him

It can be a nickname for Elizabeth, it's just not a very common one. I happen to know an Elizabeth who goes by Bitsy.
