The Is She 'Hot' or 'Not' Controversy

She's hot

My opinion: she's hot by regular people standards, but ordinary by 30-year-old actress standards.

But that's immaterial in at least one instance. The one performance I've seen her in was as Alec Baldwin's second wife in It's Complicated, and she's wonderfully cast there.

I like ur examples of other actresses that are in the "weird-unsure-hot-zone"
I think Lake Bell is unmistakably hot (especially in "Childrens Hospital")
I've come to the conclusion that actresses in this "unsure-hot zone" are only hot to people that have known a person in their life that resembles the actress in question.
...and Lake Bell totally looks like someone that you would have gone to high school with or something. let me know if u agree or disagree.

I definitely agree that your life experience, especially when you're a youth, has a huge impact on what you find attractive as you get older. Recently I was looking for copies of an old PBS show called 3-2-1 Contact. I was about 7 or 8 when that show first came on and I loved it. The science content appealed to me but I also remember liking one of girls who hosted the show. When I finally checked out some clips I was laughing at how 25+ years ago this girl had all the characteristics and attributes of women that I find attractive today. She actually looked almost exactly like one of my old girlfriends. It suddenly dawned on me that these early crushes were instrumental in shaping my notion of what is attractive.

Again I think Lake Bell is extremely hot but I'm not sure I can pinpoint where I was "influenced" by past experiences in respect to her. But ultimately finding these origins aren't all that important. It's just funny when you finally do make that connection between the past and present.

One last thing which I'm curious to get your opinion on, is if you had a choice between Lake Bell or some classic Hollywood "Hot" chick like Fox, Alba, Lively or whatever, who would you choose? Although I definitely wouldn't kick any of the latter out of my bed or turn them down, but if I had to make a choice I would probably start with Lake Bell and then move on to the others.

Well Buddy, I don't believe there's any reason to have to show respect to a hypothetical situation... which u are speaking of. If i had to choose between Lake Bell and the hottest of hot top people in our world, i'd pick the hottest every time... but if it was for, "keeps" then i'd choose Lake Bell cuz she's the kind of chick i'd want to see on a day-to-day basis.

I think Lake Bell is as Hot as Megan Fox, but Megan Fox is not Lake Bell and that's the only difference in my mind. but they are equally, "Hot", just different.

she's got a very masculine face that many would find offputting. But in the scene from "It's Complicated" where she takes off her shirt... she suddenly looked very hot.

HOT!!!!! She needs a better agent too, as she should be in many more movies.
