Does he sound like Kermit the Frog?

shareMaybe a little.
All I know is that Canned Heat should have wised up and replaced that fake-black-voiced Bob Hite with Wilson. Their ONLY major hits that have survived in popularity were "Goin' Up the Country", and "On the Road Again" both sung by Alan. I can't even think of another Canned Heat song by name.
If Wilson sang all their songs, they would be remembered in the same way as The Doors or Jefferson Airplane or other giants of the era. With the majority of their catalogue done in the fakey Blues voice of Bob Hite, they are merely 2 hit wonders.
No disrespect intended. I just thought it would be a good angle for discussion.
But Wilson died in 1970 so that cut short the band's success regardless.
I think maybe that if they had made Wilson the lead singer, he may not have died. It's unknown if he died of accidental overdose or suicide, but it is well known that he was very depressed and had made several suicide attempts previously. A major cause of his depression, among other things, was the lack of respect he was shown due to his unusual looks and demeanor, and his inability to attract women. These would have likely been solved if he was recognized as the driving force behind the band.
