the new Brett Ratner?

For the longest time, whenever a producer wants complete and utter mediocrity, Brett Ratner was the guy to go to. If you want a film to thrive on the absolute bare minimum, with no thought or effort put in whatsoever, there was no one better for the job than the Rat Man. After 2016, however, Brett's "glory days" have all but come to an end, as a result of being cancelled from the spread (no pun intended) of the #MeToo movement.

Since then, the Rat has not helmed a single feature film, which leaves us to the topic of today: has Ratner been officially dethroned by Rawson Marshall Thurber as the new king of mediocrity in Hollywood? Like, seriously, I can't think of a single director working today who's as utterly bland, listless, generic, and uninspired as this guy is. It's as though every one of his "creative" decisions was derived from having looked at focus groups and statistics.

Like Brett, he isn't utterly inept when it comes to the basic rules of filmmaking. His movies do at least have a logical flow and structure to them, and they are all shot and edited in a way that's relatively clean and comprehensible. They are all just so absurdly bland and dull, to the point that I'd much rather watch a film by the likes of Uwe Boll or Tommy Wiseau than anything this guy makes.

Who's with me? Is there any other director you can think of who deserves the title of "the new Brett Ratner" more?
