Some Positive Stuff

I'm sure we've seen more than enough of the bad lately, so feel free to share some balance of the good 😁

From one of my fav interviews of his, and ngl pretty relevant to recent events:

I’m sure there’s negative energy out there, but the last thing I want to be is divisive. I’m an actor because I believe in the power of cinema to bring people together. I get disheartened when things are interpreted along divisive lines. That’s not the business I’m in. I’m not saying I’m some kind of unifying force – I just like being a part of it."

He has been very consistent about his role in the UNICEF and his role as an artist in society. I admire that. I don't have transcript, but I remember him saying he is an artist, though in the society that word is despised, in RADA interview. He is an idealist, and he is frequently mocked for his optimism, but that was the engine for his acting.

Not to mention the United Nations retweeted the UNICEF one http://i.imgur.com/PCjaCxFh.jpg. I haven't looked too much because I've been busy with work, but from the few gleaned, these articles hardly talk about the actual charities. The European reports were less salacious and actually gave information on how to donate and about the organizations themselves. I'm on a tablet, but once I'm on a proper computer, I'll try to share the info too. I donated last year, but will continue to do so this year and so on.

It's always good to think positive, although it has been very trying these days. Perhaps one has to go full zen nowadays to stay totally immune to negative energy.

Here are a few quotes from Buddha (I am not a Buddhist, I just like these quotes).

It is easy to see the faults of others, but difficult to see one's own. A man broadcasts the fault of others like winnowing chaff in the wind, but hides his own faults as a crafty fowler covers himself.

They take untruth for truth; they take truth for untruth; such persons can never arrive at the truth, for they hold wrong views.

Unkind people spread malicious tales, and well-intentioned people also censure; but in either case the tranquil sage remains unconcerned. Nowhere is there to be found a disconcerted sage.

One should not consider the faults of others, nor their doing or not doing good or bad deeds. One should consider only whether one has done or not done good or bad deeds.

One is not righteous if one decides a case without due consideration, but the wise man who takes into account both for and against, and comes to his decision about others with due consideration - such a man of discrimination who keeps to the truth, he is to be called righteous.

Hatred is, indeed, never appeased by hatred in this world. It is appeased only by loving-kindness. This is an ancient law.

Happy indeed we live who are free from hatred among those who still hate. In the midst of hate-filled men, we live free from hatred.

One is one's own guardian. What other guardian could one have? With oneself well disciplined one obtains a rare guardian indeed.

Do not think lightly of good that not the least consequence will come of it. A whole waterpot will fill up from dripping drops of water. A wise man fills himself with good, just a little at a time.

Here he rejoices, hereafter he rejoices; one who performed meritorious deeds rejoices in both existences. He rejoices and greatly rejoices when he sees the purity of his own deeds.
