Clarification on Common and Kanye's relationship

I was listening to Common's new album finding forever, and also listening to Kanye's Graduation album, and came across Kanye's song, Homecoming ft. coldplay. I liked it at first, then after listening to it a couple times came to realize that it had the same concept as Common's I used to Love H.e.r. and I was upset, b/c commons song blows my mind, and now here comes Kanye and does the same, How do you feel about that? I thought they were friends.... what the hell is that about Kanye??!!

It's just an homage to Common and to Chicago. That's why he used the same style of lyrics. I'm European, so it's hard for me to say this in English, but i think he honors Common's song with this.

Common's song is about hiphop in generally, but Kanye's song is about Chicago. Kanye feels the same way about chicago as Common felt with hiphop, so that's why he pays tribute to Common with the song.

He isn't stealing from Common, it's an homage to the concept that common used. I hope you understand my english,

listen to the song Home by kanye which was released at the same time as College Dropout but wasn't on the CD, the lyrics to that song are the same except for the chorus. So Kanye Just didn't come along with this song he acutually came out with it, google Kanye West home, and you will find different lyrics to the same song.

Like it was already stated it was a tribute to com and the chi. ALSO little known fact, he wrote that song and recorded a different version on a mixtape around the same time the college drop out was released. So he's had it for a LONG time. Its just now he decided to put it on a major album.

I felt the same, being that the lyrics model "I use to Love Her." But then I saw the video. Of course Common was in it. I couldn't imagine him doing this video without putting him in it to let people know the song was in honor of him. After seeing him in the video, I felt better about it.

I know you guys already established an answer for this post but I just wanted to say that Common is on G.O.O.D. Kanye's label. He knows what's up. Lyrics are different, subject is different, vibe is the same and that's why I love it, cuz Ye brought it back. He showed that rappers still do have emotions/feelings.
