The imdb boards were shut down for the same reason most comments sections are disappearing: they were no longer useful. There was so much spam, rage, hate, and trolling that it became impossible to carry on an intelligent conversation.
Some people take their pseudonyms as their official family names. So if you change 'Clay' to 'Ali' officially then your children are not Clay no more, they're Ali. So technically it very well could be that someone named Mahershala Ali is related to Muhammed Ali (being let's say his grandson). But he isn't.
