well I did. and now I was 12 once too once. and even though this is a grown man. I remember having no understand of why Scorsese is good and Bay isnt. why there will be blood isn't boring even though not really action or much blood and its a decent length but batman forever is utter trash despite all the flash and action and bangs and pops.

either way rob isnt good. hes not completely talentless, he just doesnt have "it". he on paper knows how to execute stuff, it just comes off as meh and amateurish.

I get what hes going for at 5:20 for example. the chaos as they are riddled with bullets and showing that through the camera work.. but I dont care, it looks like utter shit.

I guess thats what happens when you insist on writing, staring in, directing, producing, running the craft service table, being the electrician and setting up the lighting, staying overnight and building sets.

It amazes me that someone would actually determine a movie's worth by how popular it is according to this site or that site. What "the majority" says is irrelevant to what the individual watching the movie thinks.

For instance, "American Beauty" won it for Best Picture but, to me, it's an abomination. Am I wrong because "the majority" disagrees with me? No, I'm right because that's what I think of the movie and have reasons to support my perspective. And that perspective is the only opinion that matters to me regarding the worth of any flick.

But continue on letting others determine what you should appreciate or not appreciate.

Movie reviews by respectable critics, websites where people vote on a movie, all help steer me away from wasting my time and money on garbage (which Rob Zombie is definitely full of). That is the worth of "this site or that site," as you put it. Your way of thinking is called solipsism--you can look it up--it's not a good standpoint for making decisions.

I liked "The Lords of Salem," but you think it's "garbage." Does that make me "solipsistic" or does it simply mean I appreciate a work of art you don't?

Good "respectable critics" are able to offer enough information about a movie to reveal if the reader/viewer might be interested in watching it, even if the critic doesn't personally like it. Roger Ebert was usually able to do this.

Your accusation of "solipsism" is laughable, as if I should feel guilty for liking or not liking a particular movie. Get real. I repeat: The only thing that matters to the individual viewer is if he/she likes the movie in question. How others regard it is irrelevant, unless they can offer quality insights as to why it's so good or so lousy.

That said, I'm the type of person that is usually willing to give a film a second or even third chance, assuming it's worthy of my time. I've changed my views on particular films many times over the years. If that makes me "solipsistic" in your mind, whatever.

Now run along to your popular ratings site so you can watch whatever movie it is they're telling you to watch (rolling my eyes).

Zombie is an uber hack. I enjoy his music, but he's always been a terrible film writer/producer/director

He does have talent. That talent is what opened the doors from his music to his movies. But it wasn't enough to become a good filmmaker

I'm not even going to go into all the ways and how much he sucks. He has a big enough anti fanbase for that info to be readily available

hes jut trying to do too much and not good at any one thing. how many good directors star in their own films? and write it? and are the cinematographer. and produce it? how could you do any of those things well when you are not mastering any one, and likely have zero creative opposition, since the whole show is yours. which is fine once you've earned that and reached Scorcese, Tarintino and Spielberg level.

not when your highest read film I can find with fans is a 6.7.. you advent even reached "decent" level.

Having seen all of his movies, I would say his love of white trash hillbillies who have no redeeming features is what stops the films from being good or even average. In relations to the many positions he has on his films (producer, director. writer), Robert Rodriguez and Steven Soderbergh have multiple similar duties on their productions and the product is substantially better than Zombie's.

"that fair and makes sense.

it does make sense a director may want to write, direct and edit their own film. Rodriguez did this on arguably his best film, Sin City. its their own vision and these three things are arguably (besides the acting) the largest factors in creating their vision

maybe its the acting part that pushed it over the edge. its not no longer an artistic vision. its a personal vehicle project

It actually wouldn't be bad if it were a trailer of a very low budget indie film. Or if it were from a director known for extremely ironic filmmaking

But from Zombie that is a clear regression. But at least he isn't making grimdark scary movies anymore. I think making weird comedies will be way more conducive to his talents

I started really getting into film at the peak of collider video on YouTube. who were fake optimistic big studio shills but I didnt know better. shortly after I found RLM, who was a breathe of fresh air among all those fake hype Channels

I FOUND RLM A COUPLE YEARS AGO WHILE RECOVERING FROM A SURGERY...WATCHED EVERY BEST OF THE WORST AND REVIEW IN ORDER...THEN STARTED CATCHING UP ON HALF IN THE BAGS AND MISC...AT THIS POINT I HAVE SEEN ALL THEIR VIDEOS 5 OR 6 TIMES...THEY ARE MY HAPPY PLACE...HACK THE MOVIES COMES CLOSE BUT NOT QUITE.

Rob Zombie is a cinematic genius. If you're looking for a standard horror film you'll be disappointed. That's not what he offers.

His is a comedic parody of horror films. As such he explores ideas others can't. But he couples the comedy with over-the-top sadism and gore. That's why it works.

No responsible film critic can call Zombie "completely talentless". You're just so offended you don't get "it".

And I'm not a guy who has much patience for horror films in general. I don't like gore. I'm not a child. But I like it when it contributes to a greater theme.
