Looks reasonably healthy...
...for a Zombie.
see kids smoking crack really isnt that bad as long as u have enough money to not work a 9-5 and eat healthy
shareIt doesnt cost a lot of money to eat healthy. That is only an excuse used by people so they can continue to eat like shit.
It's actually less money to eat healthy.
yea lol fat people love saying that. i remember watching super size me as a kiddo and some fatty mcbumbalattie was complaining about how she couldnt lose weight cause she cant afford eating subway everyday hahahaha. i was lmfao, lady u ate enough bread and meat for a fucking lifetime, now it is time to switch to salads and never look back. fat people just expect to feel full and satisfied after every meal and assume when eating healthy they have to eat a ridiculous amount of food to feel that same way. its the addiction to the feeling of a food high that gets them not the financing involved on living good lifestyle
shareVery true.π When I started eating healthy a long time ago i used Watermelon as a sweet food alternative. Dont gain any weight at all from it but eating half a watermelon is about 700 calories. You feel full after and piss most of it out...ππ. I eat it for lunch during watermelon season. Sometimes I put sugar free cream on it. But i have to watch i dont use too much..
I have never been fat. A bit overweight but never too much. I always watched what I eat but went full out a couple years ago.
Actually a study done in 2013 found that it cost about $1.50/day more to eat healthy. I have no idea if that is still the same today, but where I am the price of meat is just stupid. Regardless, that doesn't seem like much, but it is about $550 a year per person. So if you are a family of 5, that does add up.
shareIt's not. My fat coworker said it's more expensive. I gave him several examples to prove him wrong.
I said...What does a snickers bar cost??? Than I said...What does a banana cost??? ππ
I said how much for a family size bag of chips that you would eat half by yourself in one sitting?? What does it cost for a bag of apples or oranges???
He just stared and than said I was being stupid. I gave him the prices and of course a banana is pennies for one. A bag of apples or oranges cost about the same or less than that flipping bag of chips.
Now dont get me started on salad. Those are extremely cheap to make. What costs money is when people start putting shit like bacon and cheese on their salads...πππ
Meat is getting more expensive. Boneless skinless Chicken breast after 13 years of lows (since the recession) is finally going up. But that is a healthier meat and its still cheaper than its fattier competition beef and pork. I do not consider beef and pork healthy and beef is really expensive right now.
IT IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE TO EAT HEALTHY...PERIOD.
sharePROVE IT....because i just gave several examples how its not...
shareI DO THE SHOPPING FOR MY FAMILY...I AM AT THE GROCERY STORE DAILY...IT IS SIMPLY THE TRUTH...HEALTHY FOOD AS A DIET COSTS A LOT MORE THAN CHEAP AND FAST FOOD.
shareWth are you talking about? A big mac and fries will set you back $6 for 1 person. I can make a 3lb. Salad for less. Unless you eat taco bell all the time you ain't eating cheap fast food. A 12 inch sub at subway with chicken is approaching 9 bucks now. KFC fried chicken bucket is what...$15-20???? That's not cheap. You can make healthy grilled chicken breast for 5 people cheaper than that and have left over for a salad....
shareLMAO...YOU AND YOUR SINGLE PERSON SHIT DOESNT QUALIFY...TRY FEEDING A FAMILY OF FOUR WITH YOUR BULLSHIT THEORY...IT IS WAY MORE EXPENSIVE TO BUY AND PREPARE HEALTHY MEALS THAN IT IS TO GO WITH CHEAP AND UNHEALTHY....IT JUST IS.
AGAIN...I HAVE A FAMILY OF FOUR AND I DO THE SHOPPING AND COOKING.
Haha....no it's not. I just told you its cheaper to feed a family of 5 at home and healthy rather than stuffing their fat faces with mcdonalds or KFC
..πππ...make a pot of veggie or chicken chili very cheap...you just like shit food. That's your problem...
YOU CAN SAY IT AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT MR.SINGLE....IT JUST IS NOT TRUE.π
shareWhatever. I gave you plently of cheap options to feed your kids. The problem is they are probably addicted to sugar like most kids. I get that kids are finicky but I blame mostly the parents.
Try giving them a delicious salad and fruit for dinner and popcorn (with light tasting olive oil and a bit of salt) for a snack. See what happens. I bet they revolt...
OH NO...YOU MISUNDERSTAND...MY DAUGHTER EATS HEALTHY...AS DO MY ELDERLY PARENTS WHO I FEED...THAT IS HOW I KNOW THE TRUTH OF THIS MATTER...YOU SEEM HUNG UP ON SCHOOLING OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE IN THEIR MISTAKES...I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT OTHERS AND THEIR CHOICES...THE SIMPLE MATH IS...HEALTHY IS MORE WORK AND MORE MONEY....IT'S WORTH THE EXTRA CASH AND EFFORT,ABSOLUTELY.
shareNo dude. I have a family and I also do the cooking and shopping. It's WAY cheaper to eat healthy but it does require actual cooking and food preparation. Hamburger helper is not cooking. Frozen lasagna isn't cooking, etc.,etc., etc. I make almost everything from scratch. It's healthy, delicious and inexpensive.
shareGOOD FOR YOU...DOESN'T APPLY TO EVERYONE'S SITUATION...AND IT IS NOT CHEAPER...I GREW UP A WELFARE KID...I KNOW CHEAP...ALSO WAY TO GO ON THE ASSUMPTION...it does require actual cooking and food preparation. Hamburger helper is not cooking. Frozen lasagna isn't cooking, etc.,etc., etc.
BREAKFAST - CEREAL/MILK ABOUT - 1 DOLLAR WORTH
LUNCH - LUNCHABLE ,CHIPS - ABOUT 2 BUCKS
DINNER - FROZEN DINNER - 2 OR 3 BUCKS
SNACKS - CHIPS,POP TARTS - A DOLLAR'S WORTH
YOU CAN'T EAT "HEALTHY" FOR LESS THAN THAT...AND THAT IS WHAT I GREW UP EATING.
Are you going by the prices when you were a kid because for example, chips are well over a dollar a bag (small) and frozen dinners ain't no 2 or 3 bux.
shareBANQUET DINNERS ARE 99 CENTS...HUNGRY MAN DINNERS ARE 2.99...THERE ARE A NUMBER OF BRANDS IN BETWEEN.
THERE IS A FROZEN BURRITO BRAND...3 FOR 99 CENTS....RED BARON FROZEN PIZZA 4 BUCKS.
CHEF BOYARDEE FOR A BUCK A CAN.
THE 99 CENT STORE HAS LARGE BAGS OF CHIPS,BOXES OF CEREAL AND GARBAGE OF ALL SIZES FOR 1 DOLLAR EACH.
TODAY'S PRICES AT TODAY'S STORES...
You compared fruit to snack food. There is a misconception that overweight people only eat chips and chocolate bars, which isn't true.
Examples I would use would be frozen prepared meals, especially when you can get them on sale. Also prepackaged meal kits, as well as jarred sauces. Fruits and vegetables are not always cheap depending on where you live. You talk about a bag of apples being the same price as a bag of chips. Where I am the cheapest bag of apples I could find was $5.00 a bag, where store name family sized chips were $2.00 a bag.
Having balance is important too, one cannot live on lettuce alone. Our bodies need fat, protein, and even carbs. So yeah, one can make a salad relatively cheaply, but to make that sustainable one would need to add to the salad. Where I am, chicken hasn't been cheap for 13 years. It's really tough to find any meat for under $6/lb. Tofu, lentils and chickpeas are more expensive than say peas, which are not quite as rich in protein. When it's not asparagus season, that's over $7/lb, just for example. English cucumber, where I am, is over $2 a cucumber and they rarely go on sale, yet boxed pasta will be on sale for half that price. Which would be more economical feeding a family of 5?
There are healthy options for sure, and I'm not condoning a poor diet, I'm just saying that I'm not sure that your examples were the best for your argument.
I love the idea of community gardens, and learning to grow your own food, both indoors and out as well as back yard chickens. That's not allowed everywhere, and it's also not an option for everyone.
A family bag of lays chips is $5.99. Same price as the apples. As for fats and carbs....chicken breast is about 2.19 per pound for a family pack. Not sure what you pay for chicken or where you live but even at $4 a pound it's still cheaper than most beef. Beans/ Legumes are great for additional fats. As well as avocados. As for pasta you are forgetting about any sauce that needs to be prepared with it. I'm eating way cheaper now than I did 2 years ago.
Now as for getting kids to eat healthy...that's another who issue.
AMD THERE IS THE RUB... I'm eating way cheaper....TRY CHEAPLY FEEDING A FAMILY HEALTHY.
BTW A FAMILY SIZE BAG OF CHIPS IS 4 BUCKS...APPLES ARE 99 CENTS A POUND...ROMAINE IS 2 DOLLARS FOR A SMALL HEAD...A SMALL BAG OF CARROTS IS 3 BUCKS...A WATERMELON IS BETWEEN 7 AND 8 DOLLARS...AVOCADOS ARE 2 DOLLARS EACH
A JAR OF PASTA SAUCE=4 BUCKS
INGREDIENTS FOR SAUCE=14 BUCKS
Avocados are $1.50 each. A family bag of chips is only $4 on sale. A head of lettuce is well under a buck. You are not looking hard enough. A small bag of carrots is not 3 bucks. Lmao
shareWhere do you get a head of lettuce for under a buck? Iceberg lettuce, which has essentially no nutritional value, is $2 a head. A bag of walmart brand chips is 97c.
You are implying that people eat chips for dinner. Maybe some people do, but most people don't. Even obese people. I'm talking about making actual meals here. Not buying McDonald's or Taco Bell, but just groceries.
I get that iceberg is not as nutritional. Bit it's very cheap here in the rust belt. Walmart has bagged romaine for a couple buck. Two bags would make a few hearty servings. Add a couple tomatoes and an onion. Still cheaper than fast food. How much is beef per pound???
shareICEBERG IS NOTHINGNESS...AND YOU CAN'T EAT SALAD THREE MEALS A DAY.
shareYou can't just wat romaine lettuce though, even with an onion and a tomato.
shareTHIS "PERSON" IS INSANE AND REALLY HUNG UP ON SCHOOLING THE "FATTIES"...JUST SMILE AND NOD.π
shareYeah I know. A typical day of eating for me is usually ..
Coffee in the morning and afternoon. A fruit on the way to work. Maybe a chicken wrap for dinner with a salad or soup. Or a salad with grilled chicken. Sometimes a veggie sub or I make a sub with chicken breast. Its really cheap. I also will eat sugar free peanut butter and jelly with low fat bread
. I admit Those two items though are not cheaper than their sugar laden brothers. Havent been able to find an alternative for it yet....
That's a lot of bread products. Bread can make people fat. Now if you are eating white bread, that's cheap. But whole wheat bread can be double the price.
I also didn't see a lunch listed.
I will say once more that when I'm talking about healthy and unhealthy food, I'm not referring to chips, and fast food, or even frozen pizzas. I'm talking just comparing making meals from scratch (I mean as scratch as one can get from a grocery store and not inventing the universe) and buying premade alternatives, and the differences between canned and fresh. I don't know where the rust belt is, so your comment about where you were flew over my head, but location and what can actually grow where you live has an impact on cost as well.
I'm also guessing that you are just feeding yourself with the comments you've made. The study I mentioned said $1.50 more a day to eat healthy. Really, that's nothing. That is about the cost of a cheap coffee somewhere. But, for a year that is about $550. Still not much for one person. Try feeding a family of 4 or 5 and that $550 becomes $2700. If one is on a tight budget that does make a difference. Be grateful that you are able to feed yourself good food as not everyone can.
I will also point out that active children should consume at least 1500 calories a day. What you have mentioned is no where near that.
shareAgain children are a diffrent issue. You guys brought family into it. We were talking about 1 mans eating habits due to money...rob zombie. No kid will eat a healthy diet. But adults have zero excuse. And one of the worst excuses is that eating bad is cheaper. Generally it is not. Sure eat ramen noodle. But most adults unless you are a student without a job can afford more than ramen. But yet they will reach for that $10 fired chicken everytime over a salad or veggie stir fry or pea soup etc...
shareMy first comment to you brought up feeding a family of 5. So, I was actually speaking of feeding more than one person.
Like I said, the daily cost isn't much, but it does add up over time.
I never said that I ate ramen noodles because I wanted to, it was because I was dirt poor. Eating crap was much more affordable, and again, it wasn't chips and fast food, as I couldn't afford those either.
I'm no longer in that situation and I am thankful. I'm thankful that I can spend more and go to a farmer's market and spend more to support local growers. You are making unfair generalizations about both over weight people and poor people in regards to a comment I made about a study.
You'll notice that I said store brand chips. Where I live, chicken at 2.19/lb would be a steal. It's usually about $7 or $8 a pound. That isn't affordable. I mentioned that beans and legumes are more expensive than something like peas. Avocados are a great for fat, but to say that they are affordable is not true where I am. The farther the distance you live from where a product grows makes that product a lot more expensive.
I also mentioned jar sauces which aren't really healthy for a person either. Even ones that say "healthy choice" still have added sugar and a higher price tag. Making your own sauce is ultimately the best option, but it is more expensive.
Like I said though, the big culprits are the pre-packaged and frozen meals. Not only are they convenient for a busy family, often they can be more affordable because to buy all the ingredients separately it would be more expensive. It's not that much more, but even if it were a dollar per meal more expensive, that does add up over a year. For most people it's not that big of an issue, but if we are talking about people struggling to get by, it can make healthy eating a little more prohibitive.
Yeah but to make that same shit from a frozen meal from fresh ingredients IS expensive because it's not any healthy and usually contains beef.
Seriously if people really really tried to eat healthy its very inexpensive. Also popcorn for a snack air popped is another very inexpensive snack for the kids. Way Cheaper than store brand chips.
Take a look at what's in your cupboard. I will bet there are some things that have cheaper healthier alternatives.
YOU MISS THE POINT SNACK KING....THREE MEALS A DAY PLUS SNACKS FOR A FAMILY IS A LOT OF FOOD...NOT A ONE TIME DIVE INTO A CUPBOARD...THE SIMPLE TRUTH IS...IT IS FASTER AND CHEAPER TO EAT UNHEALTHY THAN HEALTHY....TO EAT HEALTHY AS A FAMILY ON A BUDGET IS A LOT OF WORK AND EXTRA DOLLARS.
shareAgain, like my above comment, I'm not talking snacks. I'm talking making meals for a family, compared with buying premade meals. I wasn't even referring to frozen meals with beef. I was looking at vegetarian ones. Not all frozen meals are pizzas, and lasagnas. There are some that are not that bad with their ingredients.
I do have some junk food in my junk food cupboard. I also have a fridge full of healthy food that was way more expensive than my junk food. I feel fortunate that I don't have to struggle to afford food currently, but I have been in a situation where buying ramen noodles for 25cents a package was all I could afford. That was cheaper than an apple at that time.
I fully support healthy eating. I also encourage batch cooking so that if time is an issue, one doesn't need to resort to store bought pre packaged meals. I can afford that, and I also have a large freezer so I can do that. Not everyone can. I acknowledge that.
Now as for getting kids to eat healthy...that's another issue.
As others have demonstrated with good examples, it is less expensive to eat healthy food. But fat people are always full of excuses to shift the blame from themselves for what and how much they shove into their faces. The first step is to take responsibility and acknowledge that the reason you're fat is because you make bad food decisions and don't exercise enough. As far as fast food is concerned, it is extremely expensive compared to making your own lunches and dinners at home.
shareEXACTLY. Someone gets it...kudos ..πππ
