He was seen dressed in black with a pair of sunglasses at about 7 pm in HK with his personal assistant carrying some bags while his hands are free. While everyone thinks that a black limousine will come to fetch them, they walked to a taxi queue by the road side. When their turn to get into the taxi, Donnie gets in and left while her female assistant was left alone to catch the next.

He was commented for having very poor mannerism.

Recently, he also commented on Tony Leung for not knowing kungfu while making publicity for his latest movie Ip Man. "Co-incidentally" Tong Leung was announced to act in the same role a few years ago(long before Donnie's version) in a coming movie to be directed by Wong Kar Wai. Donnie Yen earlier claimed that Wong Kar Wai's version offered him the role first but he turned it down. No evidence, of course. Earlier, Donnie's version of Ip Man tried to use the same title as Wong Kar Wai's. Wong threathened legal action and Donnie's version changed title to avoid trouble.
