Wouldn't you notice it rolling

On a steep hill it should roll almost instantly. How not notice the car rolling. Also why would you put in neutral, that makes no sense.

im tryin to figure this out too maybe he got tired or was rushing but how it run or pin you? if you get out of it. idk maybe it was sucide?

reply

Maybe. You'd think the auto locks would have kept him from getting out, unless he unlocked it.

There's easier ways to go, even using a car

It might be the type of shift used in the vehicle that confused him on whether he put it in park. However, you're right about the fact that he would've felt the car rolling on an incline in neutral. None of this adds up unless there are previous claims against this model of Jeep.

Not gonna lie, that was my first thought... but, obviously not...

Professionals will have examined the scene and concluded this is what actually happened... I'm sure they would have looked at a more sinister eventuality too, but had reason to dismiss it... They were at the scene, which is knowledge that people crying foul can't claim.

I am guessing he was distracted, perhaps looking at his phone or just in a rush. Driving is the most dangerous thing we do on a daily basis and it amazes me how many people take it for granted. Not to blame him, we all make mistakes when we rush and don't pay attention. It is easy for me to imagine someone in a hurry, not noticing he left it in neutral and perhaps sprinting to their mailbox only to hear it as it gathered speed at the last moment, he'd probably be facing away from it and by time he turned around it was too late to get out of the way. Very sad but very plausible imo, I had a friend who just didn't use her emergency break when parking, there was a very slight incline and her car rolled back and hit another car...

When learning to drive, I was taught that when you park your car on any steep slope, turn the front wheels slightly to the side before turning off your vehicle or selecting parking brakes. So if the vehicles starts rolling by itself, it will instantly turn to one of the sides.

That's the problem with vehicles, they're essentially death traps. If one person makes a mistake, it can result in a life or death situation that can essentially put multiple people into dangerous situations. And, to believe we actually made a sport out of this event is just mind-boggling.
