More of a Political Activist Now than an Actor

She has said recently she is very picky about her roles now and mainly only acts so she can make money to support the political causes she is passionate about.

Politics is her main focus now. Look at her twitter. 99% of her posts are about politics and the environment. Kinda like DiCaprio. She is not as rich, famous, powerful as he is (yet) but she works just as hard (if not harder) on spending her life championing her causes she believes in. Look how she spends most of her time. Most Hollywood actors are busy meeting with directors and auditioning for roles, filming movies, promoting them, doing commercials for some brand they have an endorsement deal with, or being seen by TMZ holding hands with their lover shopping on Rodeo or partying it up downtown.

Not Shai.

Shailene isn't obsessed with being famous, getting her next role, or winning awards...she spends her down time in places like north dakota protesting oil pipelines (just got arrested for it recently), giving speeches at rallies for candidates she believes in (like Bernie Sanders), helping random people register to vote in Kentucky or Pennsylvania or Kansas, interviewing with world leaders in Europe about global warming and how to fix it.

She lives her life like a senator trying to change the world. She is incredibly smart on a various number of serious political and environmental issues facing the world now...and honestly, It's pretty cool.

good post. she is using her status as a celebrity to bring awareness and trying to change the world in a meaningful way. she is a role model and inspiration!

Good for her if she's doing what makes her happy and what she's passionate about.

She hasn't stated ANY ways of stopping the water pollution and oil an gas waste to her followers. She flies over 100k miles every year. Air transportation accounts for 45% of the 20 MILLION barrels of crude oil we Americans use DAILY. so she is polluting air, land, and water by flying so much.

She champions buying cheap foreign goods transported overseas. As helping third world countries yet ONE container ship is the same pollution as 50MILLION cars driving! Plus we still have to truck the goods across the USA causing MORE pollution!

She always has either a cup of coffee or bottle of water in her hands. 4 BILLION Starbucks Coffee cops end up in US landfills per year. It take 1.36 GALLONS of water to make a 20 ounce bottle of water then the bottoe goes to a landfill or is tossed out as litter.

Every single day thousands of trucks microspill crude while filling the tankers at the rigs. If a driver takes off to fast it causes the microspill at the site then most leave it on the ground which gets into the water table.

There are a million ways we waste oil, gas, and water every single day but instead of cutting back on usage, they whine about the pipeline. Everything we use today requires oil and gas to produce, transport, or use yet we've increased usage 2Million barrels per day since 2014.

Don't complain about a product while you devour it daily.
