Backstrom character-very un Baha'i

So I know Rainn is a Baha'i and he's an actor and actors play people who are not themselves... but his character on Backstrom is SO the opposite of a Baha'i in so many ways, I wonder if he had any kind of conflict about that.
Also, kudos to slipping the name Baha'u'llah into the dialog. Probably the first time I've ever heard it referenced in pop culture.

I'm a Baha'i filmmaker myself and always think of this quote from Rainn when it comes to choosing projects.... "I've turned down many roles because they're morally repugnant. I have chosen to play spiritually lost characters, but only because I feel doing so served the greater good. In "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," my character was so preposterous and ludicrous in his sexism that it was clear the message was not about degrading women. In fact, the women characters are the most together, courageous and strong people in the movie."

And I think this applies to his choice to play Backstrom as well.

I was also just curious what scene he said Baha'u'llah in?? somehow I missed it.

He didn't say it, Sgt. Peter Niedermayer did. It was in the first episode while they were at the diner and he's eating breakfast and talking about his dad. Niedermayer said, "Baha'u'llah tells us, 'do not be content with showing friendship in words alone" Backstrom replied, "well tell Honolulu we're not friends and that I hate you"
