I HATE his "Happy Holidays" song.

I thought it was a modern politically correct song done in a 60s retro style. I never heard this once on the radio as a kid. They buried it until PC times called for a Christmas-less 'Holiday' song.

The lyrics sound like Williams drunkenly scrawled them on a napkin at the studio cocktail bar 15 minutes before the recording session:

"Whoop-de-doo, and dickory dock, and don't forget to hang up your sock" and
"He'll be coming down the chimney, down."

Yeah, beautiful, Andy baby! That's gold, right there... Dynamite!

YEAH! SCREW THAT DEAD GUY AND HIS ANCIENT HOLIDAY SONG....I GUESS?

It's on about a thousand times a day on the Christmas radio channel that both my boss and my kids listen to non-stop. It's a tossup between this and Wham's 'Last Christmas' for which one nauseates me more.

reply

FORCED REPEATED CONSUMPTION..THATS FUCKING ROUGH...I FEEL FOR YOU...UGH,LAST CHRISTMAS.

reply

Forced? Doesn't your radio have a knob on it to change stations?

Williams didn't write it, Irving Berlin did, in 1942, over half a century before saying "Happy Holidays" became a PC substitute for "Merry Christmas".

I can't stand rap. Here's what I do: I don't listen to it. Perhaps you should consider the same approach to Christmas music.

reply

No you dont, its impossible to hate that stupid song. "Cause whoop dee do and dickery dock and dont forget to suck on my clock."

reply

No, he did not 'drunkenly scrawl the lyrics on a napkin 15 minutes before the recording session.' 🙄
In those days, singers such as Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, etc. were *singers*, not song writers. Writing/composing music was a different matter entirely. In this case, the song was written by the renowned Irving Berlin way back in 1942, and it was sung that very year in the movie "Holiday Inn."

reply

Well, whoever wrote it did a damnably poor job.

reply

Lol wow

I like it!!!!!

reply

I love Christmas songs , but playing them for nearly two months is grating. There are a few holiday songs I like by him.
