I've seen the scene you are talking about and I think they were just goofing around especially since Bonnie Hunt has teased about how good looking Tom was and how hard it was to look at him as if he were her son. I think they were just having fun I wouldn't look that deeply into it, people kiss all the time without it being a sexual thing, especiallly in places like Europe. They were goofing around and being silly

I think they were just fooling around. In real-life I believe they are friends, as she mentioned him various times on her old talk show. Did I find it strange? No. Actors are a little more liberal when it comes to physical affections. To them it probably didn't mean anything. Also, that was probably my favorite part of the entire movie.
