This HAS to be it - Jupiter Ascending has GOT to be the last time.

$33 million domestic in it's 12th day of release?? Even for the Wachowski's post-Matrix output that's BAD. Looking at their output since the reviled 'Revolutions', I can't even BELIEVE they got a hundred and seventy million to make this...thing. That kind of scratch spent on not only a brand new - and really strange - concept, but also on the questionably talented duo, notorious for their recent big budget bombs?! I mean, LOOK:

Speed Racer: $90 million worldwide/budget: $120 million
Cloud Atlas: $130 million worldwide/budget: $102(?) million

I mean, what are they saying this is likely to end up making, all in? Under $100 million?? That kind of flop would DECIMATE a first-time director's career...so just how much fu_king goodwill can they possibly still HAVE from that first 'Matrix' film, anyway??! it seems utterly ridiculous that these bozos are still allowed anywhere NEAR a damn camera! The Man/wolf says to the girl before they fu_k: "I have more in common with a Dog..." To which she replies: "I LOVE Dogs!" ONLY in Hollywood, man. You pull that sh_t in India and you're probably executed via firing squad and buried in the studio back-lot.

I didn't see JA yet but it sounds horrible. Their last movie Cloud Atlas was the worst film I have seen in the last 3 years, and it lost like 70 million dollars, so it wasn't just me apparently. (Time also called it the worst film of 2012 and I agree.)

The last good movie they made was the original Matrix, and they didn't even come up with the idea for it. After that they mailed in a career of terribly mediocre sci-fi films based on an idea that wasn't even theirs. So therefore they have maybe made one OK movie in their careers based on an original idea, Bound, and that was 2 decades ago.

Worst directors in Hollywood today at wasting money on dumb ideas. Their careers will now unfortunately be remembered for their bloated screws ups than for anything else.

Since Revolutions before JA they had one financial flop made within the studio system. Which was speed racer, and obviously high risk project. V for Vendetta was a success and they where able to come in and help on The Invasion which the studio was for some reason not willing to release in the state it was originally in. They then did Cloud Atlas which was a well received film that failed to make money but was made mostly outside of the studio system (I think WB invested $20 million into it).

So all in all WB since the matrix had made money on V for Vendetta with them, lost on Speed Racer, and maybe lost a portion of a straight to dvd budget investment on Cloud Atlas.

The first colossal loss financially was Jupiter Ascending, a film that once again was high risk, with the potential of huge rewards. The whole point behind the male/female role in JA was to flip peoples expectations. The line was clearly meant in a humorous manner of a female awkwardly hitting on a male, when in such a film it is nearly always the reverse (and few even blink when it is).
