I asked if trangenderism was really progressive, considering the fact that much of the community conforms to gender stereotypes as opposed to challenging them. For instance, if a boy likes the color pink would that mean his girl trapped inside that body of a boy. Or if a girl like sports does that mean she is a boy trapped inside the body of a girl? I think it's a serious question that no one is considering.

Gender stereotypes do play a factor to trandergenderism, because how exactly would they know they're trapped instead the wrong body if they didn't subscribe to gender stereotypes?
Try to imagine everything that makes your personality You. Your thoughts, feelings, likes, dislikes. Look at your clothes in your closet. Now try to imagine yourself born into the physical body of the opposite sex. You probably would feel like something didn't "fit". This is an oversimplification of a very large topic.
