Do you like their music?
I like some of what I’ve heard so far.
shareI know they're a legend, but their stuff is so sedate, it's a snoozefest. I'd like to hear something more upbeat or even dangerous.
shareI suspect "Heroin" was pretty dangerous for its time. The first time I heard it in high school, higher than hell on weed and shrooms, I mistook the kick drum for my heartbeat and thought I was having a heart attack.
shareOkay, not bad. It's got that Lou Reed decadence.

Yeah, the banana album was certainly dangerous for it's time, and 'sedate' isn't really a word I would use to describe them either! Admittedly, they're not for everybody...
shareI realize their subject matter was controversial. I was just sampling Nico songs and I wanted her to rock it but she's too lowkey.
My point is they're called proto-punk and I just don't see it.
Yeah, it seems to me that that label would apply more to their general look and attitude than their music(although the music is similar in its simplicity...)
I mean, surely this was turning some heads in 1967!

Okay. I'm more familiar with Lou Reed and I like his stuff.
I think that song was influenced by George Crumb, the avant garde symphonic conductor.

I'm a big Lou fan as well!
This is my favorite solo album of his...

I've always thought "Street Hassle" was brilliant. And of course there's "Berlin". I'm not too familiar with his later 80's work but I'll check that one out.
shareI enjoy their music, I spin the banana album on the regular...Admittedly, they're not for everybody!
shareYes, but I'm not a fan of their really slow songs.
