Atomic Blonde (questions)

Will the book on Mamie Van Doren,
"Atomic Blonde" be availible in book stores?

Is this (only) a biography book,

Is it (basicly just) a photo book,

Is it a strictly filmography book,

Does this book have color photos,

Does this book have rare photos,

What about classic pinups,

Does anybody have an original copy of the pinup on the cover,

I love Mamie--but is this book well worth over $55!,

Is this an updated version of "Playing The Field",

Does Mamie contribute to it?

I havn't seen it yet and would rather wait
and just pick it up at the store rather than
ask to get an online copy. But if it's only
avilible online, then I'll ask to get it.

(Note: to anyone whom awsners,
sorry for all the questions, but $55.00
is a Lot of money for a book. And even though
I love Mamie, I want to make sure it's an
item that I'll be fully happy keeping~)

All I know is it's an Austrailian publication and Mamie did the forward. It is not an updated version of Playing The Field, it gives synopsis of all of her movies. You'd be better off to ask Mamie these questions or the president of her fan club.

Thanks for your description.

If Mamie's buisy, I don't wanna pester her with too many
questions--especially if there's awnsers out there.

I guess I'll wait and see if it goes on sale.

The book is from an "academic" publisher (ie: a publisher whose books are not really sold at book stores and are purchased mainly by libraries and published in smaller quantities than most "mainstream" commercial books hence the higher price. Fans and the public of course are welcome to buy copies but most copies are purchased by libraries for their reference and check-out collections. These books are almost never sold at book stores given their prices.) The author is an Australian fan of Mamie's but the book is published by the American academic press McFarland books. I will try to answer your questions as best I can not having seen the book but from the other McFarland titles I have seen:

Is this (only) a biography book,
** no it's probably mostly a "films of" type book with a biographical chapter or two, I would imagine the book will have credits and synopsis for Mamie's films and some photos.

Is it (basicly just) a photo book,
** definately not. Many McFarland books are quite limited in the number of photos they use, their books are mostly text and information. Definately not a "coffee table" type book although this one appears to have a number of photos in it but not of the quantity of a pictorial biography.

Is it a strictly filmography book,
** I doubt it, see earlier comment.

Does this book have color photos,
** Probably not. I've never seen a McFarland book that had color photos in it other than the cover.

Does this book have rare photos,
** Very likely as the author is a major Van Doren fan-collector from what I can detect.

Thankyou Harlowholic for awnsering my questions,

The holidays are comming up and I wouldn't
want to ask my parents for something THAT
expensive; especially if I didn't even know what's inside!

I don't know how soon libraries recive (new) books,
but I'll keep an eye out, cause I know that libraries
occasionally will sell books to readers.

Thanks again!
