I agree! I first noticed him in "Knocked Up" and thought he was hilarious, though in a small role. Then my kid reminded me about "Steve the Pirate". I don't remember it much. I do remembe "I, Robot" but not the voice.

Then I got confused when I saw him in "Death at a Funeral" (the whole film was hysterical, so he kind of got overshadowed--being on the roof, tripping!). I thought..."OH! He's English!".

Then he was in "A Knight's Tale" and I was sure he was really English. My husband kept disagreeing, saying he couldn't be (hadn't seen either film). So I had to look it up and sure enough, he's from Texas!

He's amazingly good at either a smarmy American announcer-type accent, or or a neurotic British guy on drugs. Has he been in anything serious?

Besides Firefly (t.v. show) nothing really comes to mind, I must check out those other films, especially Death at a Funeral!

Alan is brilliant. He can do everything.

CSI episode Burn Out he played pedophile.

In Dolllhouse he went from a nerd to a scary guy.

In Transformer the Dark Side of the Moon, he morphed for a moment into a scary guy it was awesome.

He played the Doc in 3:10 to Yuma.

He plays character roles so he is hard to recognize but he always shines.

He was in the opening scene in Patch Adams w/Robin Williams therapy group.

28 Days with Sandra Bullock is my favorite character Gerhardt.

I saw Beautiful Boy...his nephew was the shooter is a school mass shooting. The movie is about the parents but he plays a wonderful brother to the boy's mom.

In the new movie 42 he will play a racist in the Jackie Robinson story.

I can't wait.

Thanks a lot for the the Alan Tudyk update! I recognize some of the titles but the only one I can remember is 3:10 to Yuma (which I liked very much, but can't remember AT). He really does seem to disappear into his roles. I love that.

Wait...28 Days...I think I recall "Gerhardt"...was he funny?

I'm really looking forward to "42" as well--a fascinating story and important piece of history. It'll be refreshing to have someone else besides Kiefer Sutherland play the main (?) racist for a change! I shouldn't joke about such a nasty thing but he does seem to do lots of those roles. ("A Time to Kill", for ex.).

It think it will also be a tough film to watch (probably was tough to make) since you're dealing with this iconic, American institution, a sport and the rise of a great player, yet with all the nastiness and prejudice, even from other Black players who thought Robinson was "selling out"...
