Donald Trump doesn't even care about Republicans and Democrats. He's a grifter. A con man. Says and does whatever will benefit him personally. His political career is purely about personal prestige and preservation, with sentencing for the 34 fraud convictions he already has due in the coming months,

The reason he stands as a Rpublican candidate is because, like he said, republicans these days are so stupid he could shoot one in the face in Times Square and his republican base would still support him as long as he said the right things and pushed the right buttons. The republicans were his only chance of being in a position to run. It puts his and the Republicans dismay at the Democrats having the gumption to convince their sitting president to step aside into perspective. They are livid that the other side are able to show they have some intelligence and diligence that republicans can't access because they are balls deep in the grift.
