If Biden is pulled, was it a mistake for Trump to have done the early debate/pick Vance?

Obviously, if Joe is the one they stick with it was brilliant on his part and an easy win. But the odds are in favor of Joe being pulled now, especially with the Covid bs. They can replace him with anyone and in that scenario Trump's chances are not as clear cut. In that scenario, in hindsight was it a mistake to debate Biden in June or pick Vance? Had he not done it and waited until after the delegates were committed in September, it would've been too late for Joe to pull out. Conversely if they run Kamala and Michelle O (shudder) it would be a huge mistake for Trump to have picked Vance, in which case I think Biden was just wasting time until Trump selected his VP, now he's got his excuse ready and will bow out by next week. Should Trump have handled it differently with all those things in mind?

No it needed to happen, and it needed to go down the way did. Biden would be in a stronger place today without the debate, the MSM would still be gaslighting us, and saying that were are no cognitive issues, that just a conspiracy theory. Instead it's divided democrats, and it has almost thrown them in to a civil war with people wanting to replace him, versus not wanting to replace him. Biden has been adamant that he's not dropping out. Honestly that should be the end of the conversation. Forcing out the elected president seems wrong. How is that not a coup attempt.

I'm personally not a fan of JD Vance, I don't think he does anything to help Trumps campaign.

JD Vance adds more insanity to the already insane MAGA party

The word is he is dropping out, perhaps as soon as this weekend and it'll be an open convention. So in that regard it was a huge mistake for Trump to have agreed to the debate imo, if they pick a new candidate who isn't Harris it will have ended up being the thing that doomed him, instead of just letting events play out with Biden getting worse.

I think Biden was always meant to drop out at some point and Harris was to take over. I'm amazed he has lasted as long as he has to tell you the truth as I thought he'd have done it after the 2022 midterms which would have given Harris enough time to establish herself. I think the issue was that since then, the economy has been in decline and Harris and Buttigeig have both been complete failures. It leaves Biden painted into a corner without any clear successor and he'll pull the entire party down with him. Kinda serves them right for all the constant nonsense since 2016 culminating in the 2020 race riots and covid hysteria which nearly ripped American society apart.

My assumption is that Biden will drop out of the race this weekend but cling onto the actual presidency. I expect Michelle Obama to be the sudden candidate and that the dems will make the entire election about identity, abortion, and pronouns rather than economy and foreign policy.
