Presidential candidate Warren turns down FOX News' invite for a 'town hall meeting'
Describing FOX News Channel as a "hate for profit racket that gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracists,” Presidential hopeful Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) turned down the network's invitation to address a 'town hall audience' at their network.
“A Fox News town hall adds money to the hate-for-profit machine. To which I say: hard pass,” she Tweeted yesterday. “Fox News is welcome to come to my events just like any other outlet.”
Just about all the Democratic candidates have criticized FOX for their coverage of T-rump's presidency (they've been coined 'T-rump TV' by many liberals and independents), though two have already done a 'Town Hall' on the network. Two more are scheduled to participate in upcoming ones.
Since the beginning of the year, Warren has done 17 state town halls, had 57 'media availabilities', and did over 100 one-on-one interviews with reporters. She makes no apologies for dismissing FOX.
“I won’t ask millions of Democratic primary voters to tune into an outlet that profits from racism and hate in order to see our candidates — especially when Fox will make even more money adding our valuable audience to their ratings numbers,” she explained. "Hate-for-profit works only if there’s profit, so Fox News balances a mix of bigotry, racism, and outright lies with enough legit journalism to make the claim to advertisers that it’s a reputable news outlet. It’s all about dragging in ad money — big ad money."
