Deleting their own account would defeat the purpose of a sock though. Also their posting manner was very very different.
The point of a sock is to make it look like there are multiple people sharing the same view. Deleting an account and switching to another doesn't accomplish that.
It's click bait. They don't know the first thing about it.
The real way to stop trolls, of all kinds, is to stop creating opportunities for them. There's no reason to have multiple accounts if people respond to the post rather than the person. What happens is people don't like a post and try and take it out on a person. Those are the real abusers. It can be said that trolls bring out the worst in people. It's just a fact of life that must be dealt with. Trolls understand people better than any pompous expert ever will.

Logically, the only people who would be searching for 'new tool to detect sock account' would be people with a sock account, wondering if they'd ever get caught. And Bingo - there she is with her thread. I'd say 'Guilty as Charged'.

If someone has more than one moniker are the surplus considered socks? I have more than one user name on other sites but I don't use them to support my own posts under different handles. I use different names for different types of forums. Does that count as socks?
