Mueller's team is busy this week with 'the press of other work'

An '11-day extension on a filing deadline' was asked by the Court by Mueller's team yesterday, due to the fact that the attorneys were busy with 'the press of other work' this week.

(It's rumored that T-rump had no idea what that term meant, so he turned to his daughter/wife Ivanka in bed and asked her.)

All sides intently watching the Mueller probe are wondering what is keeping the team so busy this week with 'the press of other work', as there are no known deadlines in any Mueller cases coming up. Can it be wrapping up his report on T-rump?

For months now, all indicators point to the fact that he is indeed winding down, as top attorneys on his team have been leaving to take on other projects not associated with 'The Russian Probe'.

Yet Tuesday's filing - which the Washington Post asks for certain materials to be unsealed in the Manafort investigation - has asked the court to extend the deadline from this Thursday to April 1.

What in the world could be 'so pressing' that the whole team of lawyers is working on this and needs until (apparently) March 31?

I can't wait for the "mystery foreign company" that is implicated in the investigations, fighting a subpoena, and fighting a daily contempt-of-court-fine (totally $2.25+ million and counting....) to be revealed....

An unnamed foreign government-owned corporation will have to turn over information that was related to the special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation to federal prosecutors or continue to accrue escalating fines after the Supreme Court denied the company's request to hear its appeal on Monday.

The Supreme Court's order marks the last stop for the company that has been fighting the subpoena under the shroud of secrecy. It was issued without comment or any noted dissents.

The special counsel's office declined to say if the mystery grand jury case has been referred to another part of the Justice Department. However, attorneys from other parts of the department have worked on the case.

"Today's decision isn't at all surprising, but it's a good reminder that, yesterday's news notwithstanding, there are likely to be additional, continuing criminal investigations arising out of special counsel Mueller's work," said Steve Vladeck, CNN Supreme Court analyst and professor at the University of Texas School of Law.

I think it goes to show that Ken Delanian of MSNBC got completely duped by his sourcing about the whole rumor of Mueller "wrapping up soon". He's the primary culprit of the talking heads on the left who have been pushing this angle. The right wing press has been parroting this bogus trope forever because it only serves to put pressure on Mueller to wrap up early.

Don't buy the Delanian originated bullshit about "all indicators point to the fact the probe is indeed winding down". The only "top attorney" on Mueller's team that is known to be leaving is Andrew Weismann who had been put in charge of prosecuting Manafort. With the Manafort sentences being handed down his work is complete. Mueller still has a huge team of prosecutors on the job continuing the investigation. In fact all indicators have been that the probe isn't close to being complete with so many hanging threads yet to be resolved. This includes Roger Stone's prosecution and his trial date set for November. How can the probe be wrapping up when Stone is a case Mueller has NOT farmed out and he'll serve as a prime target for Mueller's team to flip? Delanian has always been wrong and his source originally said the probe would be done in February with no new indictments coming. Common sense alone should expose that red herring as Delanian's source not being on the up and up.

If Mueller is really wrapping up soon, that's very bad for the probe. Just sayin. Too many obvious targets that we know should face indictment based on publicly available evidence including Jared, Don Jr, and Jerome Corsi whom Mueller promised to indict if he didn't take the plea deal. All remain un-indicted.

The news of Rosenstein staying at DoJ should be the final nail in the coffin of Delanian's bogus sourcing. He was citing this and Weismann's departure as his "indications" the probe is wrapping up soon. There are far more indicators that it's not.

I always had a gut feeling this investigation would be going on after T-rump's first term ends (and hopefully he's out of office).

I do find it weird how hard MSM is pushing the idea that his report will drop at any time, as I just saw Wolf Blitzer do.

I think it's quite possible Mueller might be dropping a status update. There was a rumor early last year he was going to release a report on the obstruction question first because the collusion and Russian interference issues were turning out to be such complex issues to investigate.

I just don't see how he could be anywhere close to dropping a final report while he's actively trying to put the screws on Stone to flip and Gates and Flynn are each involved in testifying in 3 additional cases each by his team that we only have scant details on.

Unless the Stone, Gates, and Flynn cases are separate from the Mueller investigation into T-rump? In other words, maybe they're an "added bonus" ?

I don't see how it could be. I'm not sure about the specifics on Flynn, but all the publicly available evidence we have on Stone and Gates appears central to the collusion question.

Gates appears to be the central witness Mueller is relying on now to build the collusion case. When prosecuting Manafort, Weismann previously described an August 2016 meeting between Manafort and his employee Russian intel agent Konstantin Kilimnik as something that goes “very much to the heart of what the special counsel’s office is investigating.” During the campaign Manafort passed on to Kilimnik complex internal campaign polling data running 75 pages. Even before the news of the Gate extension came out, Natasha Bertrand made a strong case that Mueller is building a larger conspiracy case against Trump’s campaign or business. The key tell is the polling data was supposed to be redacted, but was revealed mistakenly by Manafort’s lawyers. The fact that the special counsel hasn’t brought it out but it was only revealed inadvertently, former prosecutor Mimi Rocah told her, “reinforces the idea that Mueller is saving it for something else.”

The latest 60 day extension of the Gates sentencing suggests at least another two months at minimum before we see anything from Mueller.

Last night on MSNBC, they were explaining some of the skepticism surrounding the Mueller report coming to an end quickly (I swear they were reading our conversation! LOL).

Don't know if you caught it all (Chris Hayes had some great guests discussing this) but what the bottom line was:

The spin-off investigations such as the campaign finances, Roger Stone, Flynn, etc. can easily be transferred to other courts from Mueller's team. (Again, this is how Mueller constructed them from day one, in case T-rump decided to fire him.) So the Mueller report can wrap up at any time, and the other cases will be on-going seperately in other courts around the country.

At least, that's how I understood this from his guests (and later on TRMS).

I hadn't seen it, but assuming that's true it would necessitate that the report would have to be a status update and not a final report.

Otherwise how would Mueller be able to incorporate potentially incriminating evidence answering the collusion question that may come out of Stone and the cases Gates is testifying in?
