shareI am leaving the U.S.A. early next year and will probably just visit the U.S. occasionally from then on. It's not because of Trump or Hillary it's more that I don't like the rude, selfish culture the U.S. has become. obesity is also at epidemic levels. I have lived overseas before and I miss it enough to go back.
shareYou aren't kidding about obesity. I have a job that puts me in a super store four times a week, and it's disgusting. Don't get me wrong, a lot of very nice people are large, but being fat has become normalized while food has become comfort instead of fuel. There is probably 5X more candy and sugary cereals than there are fruits and vegetables in that store. I feel bad for little kids these days. Burgers and fries, repeat.
shareYou're right about everything you say. It's the marketing of an addicting product by the death dealers(used to be cigarettes/now junk food) that's destroying hundreds of millions of lives. Plus it's easy to point our finger at the obese people, shaming them and making them think it's their fault. 40% of the U.S. is now obese, probably a lot higher % if you ask me. and just think if everyone keeps putting on 5-10lbs every year what's it going to be like 5 years from now, 10 years will be catastrophic.

shareI just eat two meals a day between 4-10PM and then fast for the other 18 hours. It's a lot easier than other diets and it really helps instill discipline in this age where we are completely surrounded by junk food 24/7.
shareGood for you. I envy you, really. My wife is originally from Asia. We were so afraid of Trump's anti-Immigration rhetoric that we accelerated her US Citizenship process. She's perfectly 100% legal but we were still concerned because of how much hates all immigrants and is trying to get rid of as many as possible.
I hate Trump's guts (more than any other leader we've ever had here) but I know that Trump isn't the cause of our country's disarray: he's a SYMPTOM of it.
I hope my wife and I can afford to move to another country one day. She deserves better than a progressively bigoted society with a president who emboldens bigotry. I'm sick of getting dirty looks from people when we're out in public. Last year someone even shouted out their car "GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY!" as my wife and I were entering a store.

The first time he ran, I said it was possible he could be elected. For 2020, it's not happening. "Left-wingers" aren't the issue. Independents and Republican suburbanites have turned against him. Now add energized women, minorities and the youth vote.

Speaking a truth is not "crapping on". Heavily Republican strongholds (majority white middle and upper middle-class) in my state turned blue during the mid-terms and first time in my life. That's major anger.

Granted, once Trumpie took office, a lot of the criticism and negativity was based more on speculation than facts...
It's two years later now, and the evidence has piled up on exactly what an enormous scumbag he really is (ten thousand lies, campaign finance violations, tacit approval of right-wing hate groups, not divesting himself from his business interests and profiting from them...that's just a tiny tip-of-the-iceberg list of his corrupt and immoral deeds).
But your second point is what's really chilling about this time in America: Republicans are willing to give this demon a pass on everything disreputable or divisive just because he still skews in their direction on some issue they might hold personally dear (abortion, illegal immigrants, white nationalism, etc...and in the case of Republican politicians, they'll kiss his ass because they know he's the only chance they have to hang onto their jobs).
But hey--it's the 'teens of the 21st century in America: Screw what's good for the country just as long as *I* get what's important to *ME.*

But I basically turned the radio off whenever I had to hear Obama's grating voice. I tried to ignore that all that fundamental change that's given us a country full of snowflakes and people who don't even know what sex they are -- what the heck is "pan-sexual," anyway? -- just wasn't going on. I didn't just watch John Wayne films, but I was glad I was married to a man with solid, conservative, Christian values. I kept my head down and tried to pretend it just wasn't happening.
I'm not a big fan of Trump, either. I just wish both sides would see that their guy isn't the embodiment of all things wonderful, and the other side is the only one that's wrong.
Then they point and say the other guy's the one who divided the nation. Obama sure as heck exploited it, but doggone it if it doesn't seem like it was ready to be exploited.
I don't know if you're a Christian, but this is exactly the sort of situation the Antichrist is supposed to wade into and claim only he knows how to fix -- only the divisions will be all over the world. And they very nearly are, aren't they?
