shareRepublicans. Today House Democrats passed a bill to expand background checks for gun buyers. Republicans proposed to send the bill back to add language mandating that ICE would be notified if an undocumented immigrant tried to purchase a weapon. The bill was sent for a second vote with that added language, and it passed the second round of voting, but almost all the Republicans voted against the bill despite the fact that it included their own provision.
shareGreat post! Agree 100%
shareI never realised it before but it all makes so much sense now. Republicans don’t want to submit to background checks. Now why would that be?

shareIt just happened yesterday, it was big news, House Republicans wanted the ICE/immigrant caveat added, House Democrats said fine, House Democrats voted for it while almost all the House Republicans voted against it regardless, voting against their own provision. Eight Republicans voted for it. The bill is meaningless unless the Senate picks it up.

After a surprise GOP amendment targeting undocumented immigrants, the Democratic-controlled House on Wednesday approved a measure requiring federal background checks for all firearms sales and transfers, the first major gun control legislation considered by Congress in nearly 25 years.https://www.foxnews.com/politics/house-passes-bill-expanding-background-checks-for-gun-sales
Democrats called the 240-190 vote a major step to end the gun lobby's grip on Washington and begin to address an epidemic of gun violence, including 17 people who were killed at a Florida high school last year.
The bill includes a Republican amendment requiring that gun sellers notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement when an illegal immigrant tries to buy a gun. Twenty-six Democrats joined with Republicans to support the amendment, offered by Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga.
I can't find the article that says "but almost all the Republicans voted against the bill despite the fact that it included their own provision."
It appears from the NBC webpage that most all the Rep voted for the bill. Unless I am missing something.

Did not vote for the legislation even thought it contained their provision. Read the excerpt previously posted:
Democrats called the 240-190 vote a major step to end the gun lobby's grip on Washington and begin to address an epidemic of gun violence, including 17 people who were killed at a Florida high school last year.240 = 232 Democrats and 8 Republicans voted for it
Learn to read, Bubba.
Republican platform right now: More guns, more national debt, and racism.
Of course. Republicants don't want anything to change. The undocumented immigrant language was just to dog-whistle to Trump's base.
shareThrill house. Evidence is quite clear.
shareTrick question. It's the MAGA halfwits.
