Your opinion of the green deal

I don't know much about this but it seems to be kinda bold.

reply

It's unrealistic and a big fat farce. There's a reason they took it down from online and claimed Republicans forged the online version to humiliate AOC. The entire thing was laughed out of the House due to its very poor planning. Part of it doesn't even have anything to do with "green energy" and everything to do with enslaving the poor with lies.

Every major insurance company in the world believes that global climate change is a problem which needs to be addressed.

The PENTAGON has stated that GCC is a direct threat to our national security.

Most sane Americans feel that the health, safety & security of our citizens & our property is worth the attention of our government.

Calling a Green New Deal a farce 'enslaving the poor with lies' is some special sort of ignorant bullshit & really over-the-top. It's a plan. It's a call to action.

We have a problem. The Green New Deal is one proposal on how to fight it.

T-rump & the GOP base seem to think that mocking climate & TGND is enough.

It's not.

What's YOUR solution to the problem?

Most sane Americans...

You just lost all the T-rumptards on this board. They got distracted when they Googled the meaning of 'sane'.

The Pentagon is the single biggest polluter in the entire world. The Pentagon said Iraq had WMDs. I'll never understand why leftists look to them as a source of truth on the issues with the biggest conflicts of interests. You're just an insane warmonger.

Insurance companies are still not selling global warming insurance. And big banks are still financing skyscrapers on Miami's coast.

Most of you are smart enough to see what's wrong with this bill, so I'm not writing this for you. I'm writing it for people who have not read the deal, or know why it is such a joke. I read the proposal myself, as well as what political analysts made of it, and frankly, there's a reason why it was laughed out of the House:

1.) The format under which AOC wrote it would not pass a high school English teacher's grading. I have read better stuff from Jr. High kids.

2.) She wants to get rid of all "farting cows" in the United States. First off, cows do not produce most of their methane through the back end. They burp it out. Second, how does she propose we "get rid of" the 94.4 million cows that currently live in our country? And what are the ranchers supposed to do when they are out of work and have lost their livelihoods?

3.) She wants to get rid of every single nuclear, coal, and natural gas plant that produces electricity, and have us use 100% "clean energy." First off, we have yet to improve the alternate energy sources we have, and none of them have been able to produce the amount of electricity to meet the typical needs of Americans at this time. Second, even if such lunacy is followed through, millions of people would be out of work, very upset with her, and she might even get lynched because of it.

4.) She wants to have EVERY SINGLE BUILDING IN AMERICA re-built to become energy efficient. Is she even aware how many buildings we have in this country? Even if we could count all of them, the cost of knocking them all down and rebuilding them to be energy-efficient would be astronomical.

5.) She wants to eliminate airplanes and cars, and have everyone travel by bullet train. I guess we can kiss our overseas trips goodbye.

6.) She wants to guarantee an income for everyone in the US, even able-bodied sloths that are too lazy to work for a living.

7.) And here's the punchline: she wants it all done in 10 years.

The cost of even ONE of those ludicrous proposals would bankrupt America in less than a year. We simply cannot afford to pay for all this. We're already trillions in debt, and it would cost trillions more to implement such insane programs. Just having a "universal income" would bankrupt us, never mind the other stuff. It would also be very cruel to put so many people out of work, as well as making them angry enough to first lynch the people responsible, and then start a revolution.

Frankly, I would not take the Green Deal any more seriously than I do your average clown at the circus, and AOC is one of the biggest ones at the Democrap Circus that's playing at the moment.

reply

You never read it, quit pretending you did. It's a resolution, not legislation, with no explicit legislative directives.

The format under which AOC wrote it is the format all Congressional legislation/bills/resolutions/etc follow.

The words "cow" and "cows" and "farting" in addition to "flatulence" do not appear anywhere in the resolution:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-resolution/109/text

"She wants"

She, She, She, stop pretending one single female is the only person who wants this, the "green message" existed long before you were born, the "social justice" message is the history of humankind. The entire globe - except for U.S. Republicans and their supporters - want, paraphrasing from the resolution, to invest in the infrastructure and industry of the United States and the rest of the globe to sustainably meet the challenges of the 21st century.

The resolution calls for eliminating pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing and industry, and the farming sectour as much as is technologically feasible. The caveat of "as much as technologically feasible" is the resolution's admission that fossil fuels will still be used despite a year 2030 goal of globally reducing greenhouse gas emissions from human sources by 40%-60% and despite a year 2050 goal of net-zero global emissions. The resolution calls for transitioning what already exists into clean green industries, clean green vehicles, clean green electric grids, clean green construction, and these things already exist. The resolution does not call for the abolishment of nuclear power, coal plants are far and few in the US and they have almost all either transitioned into a clean green power supplier or shut down.

The reason why Democrats have no interest in taking people like you seriously is because you're in the stage of "pollution has a minor moot effect in the planet, people need meat to survive, electric cars were a 1970's flop, clean energy/tech would bankrupt America and cost everybody their jobs" while the planet is already converting garbage into fuel, while clean green buildings have already been built throughout New York, while beer companies are already using electric and hydrogen trucks to haul their beer across the country and using clean green sustainable methods to brew beer, while solar panel infrastructure already sprawls everywhere across the Middle East, while jobs in technology/engineering/construction are globally soaring because of green tech, while DONALD J. TRUMP built buildings using green construction and green energy and saved a million of dollars doing so, while DONALD J. Trump signed a letter supporting Barack Obama's efforts to ensure meaningful and effective measures to control climate change and invest in a Clean Energy Economy.....

Bu...but you don’t get it! If you don’t have a better plan, then she’s THE BOSS!

If nothing else, no sensible person should take any plan from a mind like that seriously. She’s childish, and she came up with a childish plan that she had to back away from.

reply

There isn't a deal, it's simply a plain short resolution (not legislation) re-affirming in basic language

- the science behind climate change
- how the impact of climate change (and general pollution) exacerbate pre-existing problems (the pre-existing problems are described in a "social justice warrior" diatribe relating to the interconnection between racial and economic and environmental justice)
- how the pre-existing problems are interlinked
- how the solutions (solutions which are already going on, solutions which are happening right now and have been implemented since before Ocasio-Cortez was born...) directly tackle pre-existing problems and generate jobs and wealth etc.

Ocasio-Cortez should have simply taken Bernie Sanders' 2016 clean green plan and Hillary Clinton's 2016 clean green energy plan and her jobs plan and her infrastructure plan, fused them altogether, and pushed that as actual legislation instead. Climate change does not need a "resolution" resolving that Congress agrees that action must be taken, it needs legislation that funds the clean green research/development/technology industry and job creation and clean green infrastructural construction and transitioning.

Universities do the research with our money, and multinational corporations get the patents. Great idea. Nobody ever thought of that before.

There are two basic systems of law. One where everything is legal unless prohibited. The other where everything is illegal unless exempted.

The well connected will always be above the law, will never get rid of their cars, jets, boats, guns, meat, gated communities, Hispanic servants. The choice is between how much control they have over the rest of us.

reply

Yep. Just look at all the people in Congress, all the liberals in Hollywood, and our favorite, Al Gore, who have carbon footprints the size of some countries. And they aren’t changing their lifestyles, either. The only celebrity greenie that I ever saw who actually LIVED it was Dennis Weaver, who lived in a house that was made of tires and other reclaimed materials. It looked odd, but it didn’t look like one of Al Gore’s mansions.

And they wonder why we don’t take them seriously! 😂

AOC has her own thread.

Good point!

Yeah, it's pretty bold! Maybe a little too much.

reply

What is too much is the multi-dimensional wreck the extreme right wing has driven this country to.

reply

It's racialist and has nothing to do with the environment.

Why must they try sneak in their racist agenda with other actual bills?

Fix those issues one at a time. We don't need to jack up the debt 93 TRILLION.

Who is going to pay for this?

Mexico! Right after they pony up for the wall dammit!

I agree with it. We need radical Changes to stop global warming.
