FOX & FRIENDS apologize for saying Ruth Bader Ginsburg died

What the hell is going on at FOX? Talk about 'fake news' - last week Jeanine Pirro went off on a tirade that Pelosi was on vacation in Puerto Rico (she wasn't, she was in DC working on a plan to reopen the government) and this morning a graphic on FOX & FRIENDS announced Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away.

The on-screen graphic showed the dates “1933-2019” under Ginsburg’s name and next to her portrait. It flashed on screen for a few moments before cutting to host Ainsley Earhardt.

Before the show ended, there was an apology from the hosts. “We need to apologize,” said host Steve Doocy. “A technical error in the control room triggered a graphic of Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a date on it. We don’t want to make it seem anything other than ― that was a mistake. That was an accident. We believe she is still at home recovering from surgery. Big mistake.”

It's pretty common practice for the media, and this includes all the big ones (FOX, CNN, MSN), to have graphics and text prepped for when a speculated future event may or may not happen. This way when there is "BREAKING NEWS" they are the first ones to break it, keeping people glued to their channel for the latest updates, etc.

We all know about Ginsburg's health issues, so the media just does its preparations, unfortunately sometimes someone pushes the wrong button and puts a template or preview graphic on Live TV.

I suppose it's kind of similar to the idiot pushing the button which resulted in Hawaii going crazy for 45 minutes thinking an incoming nuclear missile from North Korea was on the way, these guys were prepared for the cell phone and TV alerts and stuff, but that still didn't stop a mistake or human error from happening.

Indeed it does happen, just incredible that it happens to FOX so often. Last week, it was Pirro who ranted on and on about Pelosi being on vacation in PR while the shut-down continues, and then blamed 'numerous reports' she read about her mistake. Only thing, there are no reports saying this.

reply

There are reports that say she was in PR on vacation and she flew there on tax payers money. These reports have not been substantiated yet, but sources closes to Pelosi say she was on a secret vacation.

reply

Link to those reports?

Didn’t think so. And it wasn’t a “ secret vacation”, many in Congress were invited to the opening of “ Hamilton” the musical by the producers. She very publicly declined to go. Pirro lies -all the time.

Some 30 Democratic lawmakers left the government shutdown behind Friday on a chartered flight to Puerto Rico for a winter retreat with 109 lobbyists and corporate executives during which they planned to see the hit Broadway show “Hamilton” and attend three parties including one with the show’s cast.

Those attending the Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD PAC winter retreat in San Juan planned to meet with key officials to discuss the cleanup after Hurricane Maria at a roundtable Saturday.

But the weekend is packed with free time for the members and their families on the trip.

“We are excited for you to join us for CHC BOLD PAC’s 2019 Winter Retreat in San Juan, Puerto Rico! Each year, this retreat serves as a way for our CHC BOLD PAC Members and friends in the D.C. community to come together to escape the cold and discuss our shared priorities for a stronger and more prosperous country,” said a memo on the trip.

Some 109 lobbyists and corporate executives are named in the memo, a rate of 3.6 lobbyists for every member. They include those from several big K Street firms, R.J. Reynolds, Facebook, Comcast, Amazon, PhRMA, Microsoft, Intel, Verizon, and unions such as the National Education Association.

There is no mention of Nancy Pelosi in your linked report. Pelosi's team made it be known she was not going, but instead was working on re-opening the government in DC. Pirro even acknowledged this, after she lied.

It probably got deleted by Pelosi. I think she has stock in Newsweek.

Not too surprised by this, and doggie has no rebuttal to the truth.

reply

No too surprised by this? You mean this is where you get your news from? Geez, I know T-rump likes his base to be dumb, but this is a new low for dumb.

reply

Oh man, you just incurred the wrath of The President.

reply

Are you saying these are the 'credible sources' Pirro gets her information from and then repeats it on her show? Seriously? LOL

Wow - she certainly sets the bar low for her viewers.

reply

I bet Trump supporters got really excited when they saw that graphic but as usual they got suckered. Has there ever been a group of people more stupid than Trump supporters?

reply

In a one-word answer, "Never."
