From Tax Returns to Kavanaugh: The 8 Investigations Dems are ready to launch in January
As the Dems take over the House of Representatives, and such important committees as the "Judiciary", "Ways and Means", and "Intelligence and Oversight", it looks like there will be plenty of investigations going on and possible impeachment proceedings.
According to Raphael Prober, co-head of Akin Gump’s congressional investigations practice, “Democrats are thinking very carefully about how they’ll use their subpoena authority. All of this will go into the mosaic they will be putting together in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election.”
Here's the top 8 issues Dems will start to investigate, starting in January:
1. Tax returns and banking records - Incoming SotH Nancy Pelosi has already said T-rump's tax returns and finances are at the top of the list of investigations.
2. T-rump businesses and personal enrichment - Incoming chair of the House Oversight committee Elijah Cummings promises there are plans to look into Mr Trump’s business affairs.
3. Russia - The House Intelligence Committee, soon to be led by Sen. Adam Schiff, has identified Russian money laundering as an "urgent matter".
4. Brett Kavanaugh - The controversial Judge whom T-rump appointed to the Supreme Court will be investigated on whether or not he committed perjury during the Senate confirmation hearings, according to Jerrold Nadler, the next chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
5. White House staff’s personal email and mobile phone use - The House Oversight Committee vowed “to continue our investigation of the presidential records act and federal records act, and we want to know if Ivanka complied with the law”. Karma's a bitch.
6. White House security clearances - The Dem's requests for investigations into Rob Porter, Ivanka T-rump and her husband Jared Kushner 's lack of long-term security clearances was blocked by Republicans last winter. Dems promise to start the investigations this coming session.
7. Matthew Whitaker, the acting attorney-general - Jerrold Nadler, who will chair the House Judiciary Committee, promises a thorough investigation into the firing of Jeff Sessions, the appointment of Whitaker and if there was any Obstruction of Justice in the Mueller probe.
8. Threats towards media organisations - enough said.
