Sure you can, because in doing so he strengthened NK's hand back home by giving Kim propaganda footage of a lifetime, unilaterally surrendered joint military exercises with SK for nothing, and inadvertently loosened sanctions on North Korea as they've got most favored nation trading status with China now with US no longer applying any real pressure to maintain sanctions. Trump spent any leverage and goodwill he had with China to maintain NK sanctions with this pointless trade war.
Bush and Obama both negotiated with North Korea, failed, yet did not get milked like Santa Claus Donald did. There was a brief period where Trump even held the upper hand in January because Kim was scared shitless that Trump would nuke him into the stone age. Trump squandered away the initiative when his art of the deal got exposed as a fraudulent dud. Kim knows Trump is now just spread too thin and made too many other enemies that he's got nothing to worry about. Especially after shoring up his alliances with China and Putin. Trump would never dare risk cross his Russian handler.
They must have really enjoyed watching that Helsinki spectacle in Pyongyang.
