ABC brings back 'The Conners' and plan on 'killing off' Roseanne

Thoughts and prayers go out to all racists who follow Roseanne Barr and T-rump:

ABC announced it's spinning off 'The Conners' this Fall, and will address the 'racist comments' which star Roseanne Barr made last month, which led to the cancellation of her sitcom 'Roseanne'. ABC has made it clear that Barr has signed off on all creative and financial gains and benefits from the spin-off, which will focus on her three kids, husband and sister and their coping after a 'sudden turn of life events'. Barr will still receive 'executive producer' credit per her agreement with the network, but no monetary compensation.

An insider at the show said the creative team is currently working on how to 'kill off Roseanne Conner', and will not ignore the racial comments by Barr, which caused the show to be cancelled last month. The source says that real-life scandal will be addressed in the first few episodes, and explain the the consequences Roseanne faced in the aftermath.

They should give her an ironic death. Have her beaten by a gang of skinheads while trying to save a black child maybe.

I’m sure it’s going to be something along those lines.

I'm hoping the show dies in the ratings and goes away.

I’ll tune in the first few episodes to see how they handle it, but not sure after.

Do you recall ( if you’re old enough!) the Valerie Harper sitcom “ Valerie” in the mid 80s? After a season ( or 2?) Harper was furious that young costar Jason Bateman was getting all the attention/ storylines and did sick-outs, etc. NBC fired her, killed her off in a car accident off-camera, and renamed the show “ Valerie’s Family” and then “ The Hogan’s”.

It lasted much longer than it should have, a big hit in the ratings. Audiences loved the focus on her children, especially eldest son Bateman, and her husband. (Another actress stepped in to play the aunt, who took over the mother role).

Curious why you feel that way. If Roseanne really won't gain financially, why would you wish something bad on the rest of the cast and crew? I remember really enjoying the first few seasons during its original run but for me the show had run its course and I only tuned in sporadically so I doubt I'll end up watching The Conners (at least with no real regularity). But I don't see any reason to wish it a failure.
