Help Wanted: Lawyers for T-rump
With the Mueller investigation circling closer around T-rump these days, it looks like T-rump is in desperate need of attorneys. Problem is, everyone is staying away from him.
Last week, his lead lawyer on his team to defend him in the Russian probe quit. John Dowd abruptly left the team, saying there were 'differences' he could not overcome between him and his client (in other words, T-rump doesn't follow orders).
T-rump then tapped well-respected political attorney Theodore B. Olson to represent him (and add what is known as a 'Blue Chip' attorney to his team), but Olson very publicly told him "Never Ever" in his tweets this weekend. Other Washington blue-chip attorneys have also refused his offer.
T-rump also announced on Thursday he was adding the husband and wife team of Joseph diGenova and Victoria Toensing . But before the bottles were uncorked and the champagne poured, they were officially ousted by T-rump. Publicly they all say 'conflict of interest', yet insiders have said there was 'no chemistry' between the couple and T-rump.
The diminishing legal team comes in a crucial time for T-rump, whom special investigator Mueller wants to interview. Without following legal guidance, republicans are afraid that he will perjure himself. Then again, if he doesn't sit for the interview, Mueller could very well subpoena him to sit for the Grand Jury - which will be worse for him.
But T-rump has assured his minions that everything will be fine. Aside from reminding everyone not to take this probe too seriously, he tweeted this over the weekend:
“Many lawyers and top law firms want to represent me in the Russia case. Fame & fortune will NEVER be turned down by a lawyer, though some are conflicted”.
That loud guffaw we all heard was Pat and Richard Nixon laughing in their graves.
