Judge rules Trump’s DACA phaseout legal

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/mar/5/trump-daca-phaseout-legal-judge-rules/

A federal judge ruled Monday that President Trump’s phaseout of the Obama-era DACA program is legal, adding heft to the administration’s defense but doing little to solve the ongoing court quagmire.

The ruling does not overturn two other federal courts, who had previously blocked the phaseout, which was supposed to take effect Monday. But it does offer a needed boost as the Justice Department appeals those other two rulings.

You know what I find amusing? I think Trump did the tax cuts to balance it out with the rise in prices for all aluminum/steel so the only one really saving is the top rich folks while the middle and low get even less for what they soon have to spend on (it adds up). I wonder if Trump will bring us back into a recession once things start getting more expensive while wages stagnate (though some have risen to $15/hr).

Its odd that a court even needs to approve of the dismantling of an executive order. It seems like there is no checks and balances when it comes to the judicial branch.

It seems like the courts want to distance themselves from the T-rump trainwreck as far as they can. Who can blame them?

reply

It seems like liberal judges are hijacking the process of executive order which is totally up to the standing presedent to enact or remove. Avoiding legislation and the judicial branch is the very r3eason Obama used the executive order route to begin with. Now all of a sudden the judicial branch has decided it wants to throw ists opinion all of a sudden.

Go back to school. The 3 branches are supposed to check each other.

Your last paragraph makes no sense and just sounds like typical economically illiterate socialist gibberish

Eh? How so? For example, those making $23,000 annually only get about $40 with the tax cut in effect. With the rise in price for all goods made with steel/aluminum, any purchase made has an increased price tag be it very minimal or noticeable (as well as increased prices from foreign goods as the trade war starts). So in turn it cuts into the tax cut savings they got in return more or less depending on how much they're spending/month on said steel/aluminum goods. Anyway, the whole point is the poor and middle class are getting even less savings due to this tariff in place since the rise in costs offset the amount saved for those with stagnant wages (excluding those with increased wages to $15/hr).

You can't give a tax cut to people who pay no taxes. It's really quite simple.

reply

Depends. If you're living below the poverty line, you pay no taxes so you get no tax cuts (though I think there are tax credits?). If you're a extremely wealthy individual/company (Cayman Islands, tax loopholes, etc.) you can also pay little to no taxes and still get a tax cut.

"DACA expired. Northern District of California injunction expired. 9th Circuit cant rule on DACA. Why? National Emergency declared. When POTUS declares National Emergency no powers or authorities can be exercised or enforced in the event of an emergency without consent of POTUS.

National Emergencies Act of 1976 also known as 50 US Code § 1631. National Emergency declared on December 21 2017, included Immigration. Injunction only allowed due to public interest standard. Congress cant get a bill done, DACA rescind can re-begin. Trump wins again. #Winning"
