The problem with the gun control movement

The problem with the gun control movement is the massive disconnect between their stated goals (reducing gun deaths) and their proposed solutions. Universal background checks will have no significant impact on gun violence. Likewise, assault weapons account for a miniscule fraction of gun crimes. Banning their sale will have almost no impact on gun deaths.

The only gun control measure that would measurably impact gun deaths in this country would be a wholesale ban on handguns and an aggressive confiscation program. Gun control advocates should man up and admit that they want massive restrictions on gun ownership as well as mass confiscation of guns. Anything less than that is dishonesty, plain and simple

Wow, you're rather glib. Nowhere in your theory do you mention the NRA as being part of the problem in the gun control movement when in fact they are the biggest problem.

reply

The NRA are the good guys.

Every country in the world has gun control with fewer gun deaths. Australia lowered gun deaths when they increased gun control. American states with little gun control have the highest gun-related deaths.

The U.S. firearm homicide rate is 20 times higher than the combined rates of 22 countries that have similar wealth and population.

The problem is that Americans love guns more than their own children. Sad fact.

I bet you salivate at the thought of banning guns.

reply

I do because gun lovers salivate over their guns. It's sick to see what some people post online. Gun lovers in the US would be happier to have their second amendment rights than for a decent health care plan. America is the only country in the world who can afford guns, but can't afford to get shot.
