Of course they just say "we need gun control", but they mean guns not banned or perhaps just antiques.
Obama had 8 years to do it, but it's Trump's fault now! Trump is doing his job by ignoring anti-Constitution SJWs.
Outraged Millennials are holding protests all over Libtardia, and the lying MSM will devote half the newscast to them.
Well you may think their views are foolish but politicians have another word that they'll need to refer to more and more millennials by each year...voters. And if gun control is an issue that they deem important, politicians are going to have to find a way to address the issue to their satisfaction if they want to secure a voting block that's growing literally by the day.
You aren't wrong, but political views often change as people get older. There is a reason that this is a very old expression.
"If You Are Not a Liberal at 25, You Have No Heart. If You Are Not a Conservative at 35 You Have No Brain"
Obviously doesn't apply to everyone, but old expressions tend to have a ring of truth to them. My mother is 62,and a bleeding heart liberal,so there are always exceptions to the rule. But pushing 35 means you are most likely in your early 30s and still young. Not saying you will ever change your point of view, but I would have been surprised to see how much my views changed from the time I was your age up until my current age,if I could have seen the future.
Well I'm 43 and am pretty liberal so I guess that puts me in the "no brain" category lol so I'm sure you'll take what I say with a grain of salt.
But I wouldn't count on these millennials who are currently leaning left to eventually shift to the right for a few reasons. First and foremost, Donald Trump. To many (myself included), his behavior is so repulsive and his lying so blatant that he is leaving a lasting impression that won't be easily forgotten. Perhaps worse is that the complacency of his behavior by other members of the GOP isn't going unnoticed by these millennials and that is also likely to cost long term damage to their brand.
Second, there's another old expression about only being as good as the company that you keep. There are idiotic liberals for sure but the biggest idiots on the conservative side are wearing white hoods and marching in the streets wearing swastikas. I assume you despise these people as do I. But these folks are openly supporting our Republican President. This is also not going unnoticed and although these rodents are currently enjoying the current atmosphere of complacency by this administration that's allowed them to scurry out of the shadows, they are also ultimately causing long term damage to the conservative brand.
Third, current millennials who are pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, believe in climate change, and just plain tired of mass shootings followed by no change are unlikely to change in mass to a conservative ideology that doesn't line up with their stances on these issues. Time will tell but my belief is that there will need to be considerable changes on the conservative side or they'll be looking at a rough future.
I think moderate conservatives are going to be more predominant and the hood wearers and hate mongers are a dying breed. While Trump is often unsavory and a bit rediculous at times, I think the hate towards him often stems from bitterness vs. facts. I DO believe he represents a new form of politicians, from both parties, where being a well polished speaker and often liar is NOT the most important thing people want in a candidate. If the Dems could put someone out there who actually represented the people vs the party, they would win in a landslide.
If Donald Trump were simply unpolished I wouldn't have as much of a problem with him. Yes all politicians can be loose with the truth but Trump lies so freely and so often it's impossible to take his word on anything without fact checking it first. This is where I'll suggest doing a little research on the guy. His politifact.com scorecard on public statements is currently:
These numbers are atrocious He dismisses anything that reveals him as a liar as fake news but the truth is there for anyone that really wants to find it. Within the last couple days he started a tweet with "I never said Russia didn't meddle in our election.." and was immediately called out for his own public statement from last year saying he believed Putin's claim that they didn't (over his own Inelligence agencies). This may seem like a small lie but he does this constantly and if he can't be trusted to tell the truth on something so easily verifiable as false, when can he be trusted? All of this stuff is also not going unnoticed by millennials.
As always well said Markdown. My first presidential election was Kerry/Bush ‘04. If George W compelled me to hate republican POLITICIANS for the rest of time, then Trump only made it worse. I say politicians because I have republican friends/family that I do not hate (the rest of us can try to get along if the politicians won’t). It should be noted that so far, George W’s legacy may have worse implications than Trump’s though that remains to be seen. George W destabilized the Middle East and put us into a quagmire. The result killed and maimed thousands of US soldiers and probably a million middle eastern civilians. Though I’m guessing that’s one thing that liberals and trump supporters agree on. Just don’t see Trump making things better.
Well said, Markdown474, on a lot of your points! You might be right about that one.
Now what do you think of the generation that will soon follow after millennial? They're even part of the same age group as the students from Parkland. A lot of statistics found the next generation after them to be more conservative/conservative libertarian leaning. So nearly being the complete opposite of their millennial counterpart, though they don’t necessary express the same conservative viewpoints as the GOP. I also heard that they are extremely mixed about Trump himself. People and the media often kept mistake kids and teenagers in 2018 for millennial for some reason... Unless the Y Gen should form a new nickname at this point?
Bs blaming Obama. He tried after Sandy hook and congress failed him and the American people. The nra backed republicans and democrats are terrorist enablers.
If millennials are indeed outraged that guns are not banned, then guns will be banned. Millennials are people born after 1982. Soon, they'll be running the country.
For the record, I don't support a gun ban. I do support an assault rifle ban, but I'm not a millennial so... ah well. I guess I'll just have to settle for all guns being banned. Sorry NRA. Sorry repubs. Satan2016 said it's so.
