America paid $675,000 to fly Melania to / from New York last year

According to military records from January 20 - April 30, 2017, American taxpayers were billed $675,000 to fly First Lady Melania T-rump back and forth from Manhattan to Washington, DC, ad Palm Beach, Florida. The First Lady did not move into the White House until the end of June last year, when the couple's son Barron finished fifth grade.

In the three months released, the Air Force made 48 trips to fly Melania up and down the East Coast. The planes - known as military versions of the Gulfstream V and 550 models - took 19 trips to LaGuardia from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, and 9 to Palm Beach international airport. Of the 48 total trips, Melania was on 21 of those flights. 27 of those flights were empty, which made the journeys so costly to American tax payers.

In comparison, First Lady Michele Obama averaged just $350,000 per year (12 months, not 3 months like Melania's cost) when she was in the White House from 2009-17. At the time, Presidential candidate T-rump was very critical of First Lady Michele Obama's travels, saying “They love to spend money,” in a series of Tweets.
