The silence from the Right is deafening

How many Republicans who took a campaign contribution from disgraced RNC chairman Steve Wynn have either given it back to him or donated it to charity since the story broke last week of the dozens of women who have come forward with sexual allegations of assault and allegations against him?

None.

Unlike the Democrats who rid themselves of the Weinstein campaign contributions.

As Sen Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY) said this morning: the Republicans need to show leadership and hold their own - including T-rump! - accountable, rather than stay silent and look the other way. "The silence is deafening", said Gillibrand.

She has not heard any Republicans say T-rump should resign, or that he should be held accountable. Not one. Because he is not willing to resign, she believes Congress should be holding hearings about these allegations and let these women come forward. yet T-rump has threatened these women to silence them. Gillibrand wants the Republican leaders to start these hearings against T-rump, and show the country they take this seriously and we should hold him (and other leaders) to the very highest standards.

reply

I'm sure Gillibrand, and all people who take their profession responsibly, will have left this in the very capable hands of the police (Where it should be).

Gossip is not crime, neither are unsubstantiated allegations.

reply

"Gossip is not crime, neither are unsubstantiated allegations."

You're right.

This is exactly why we need a Congressional investigation into T-rump and the dozens of women who have come forward, and separate the 'gossip' from 'the truth' - instead, they remain 'silent' and pretend none of it ever happened.

We need the Republicans to act like leaders, and hold him to the highest standards.

Then the police can do their jobs.

reply

I'd say the police should be involved first. Public record and then closed door meetings if need be.

The other way around might find that public record isn't recorded.

reply

Some of these allegations are older which will prohibit the police from any thorough investigation.

reply

If they cannot be supported by evidence then they are not legal accusations and belong outside of any media which isn't gutter press.

reply

No one said they can't be supported by evidence. This is why we need Republicans to begin a Congressional investigation and hear the evidence. They are not doing their job by denying Americans these hearings.

Because the victims' legal statute of limitations may be expired, and the police can't thoroughly investigate for this (and other) reasons, doesn't mean the crimes did not exist. Republicans wish to stay silent, though.

reply

If they can be supported by evidence then the police, trained investigators, should take the lead on the investigation and make a public record of their findings.

Leaving it to congress is asking a bunch of people who do not know how to investigate to base their future careers upon baseless accusations.

This has been law in the West for a very, very long time and for good reason.

You wouldn't want congress to cover up a crime would you?

reply

Again, the police may be prohibited from doing an accurate job due to the statute of limitations in their jurisdiction.

I'd rather that the Congress initiate an investigation, rather than remain silent and pretend nothing has happened. I wouldn't say an accusation is 'baseless' until it is presented to a full congressional hearing and presenting the evidence.

By continuing the way they have been with deaf ears and blind eyes does not do any good for America.

reply

How can evidence be presented without the due process of law?

Private firms?

That way leads to corruption.

reply

And when the statute of limitations is up and the due process of law is not possible?

The crime no longer exists?

reply

His older allegations came out of the blue during his campaign, and a lot of research was put into it, but the person claiming the assault didn't even exist and gave a phony address.

reply

But we should congress on it!

Let's spend lots of money on something which can't be proven and sensationalise it and then when it all comes up empty blame T-RUMP for a useless expenditure of tax payers money!

I demandz it noa or I'm having sexual relations with that cigar my wife bought me!

reply

Yeah, Doggiedaddy is more offended by fake allegations than the fact that politicians like to use our tax dollars to hush up women whom have actually been sexually abused by them.

reply

"His older allegations came out of the blue during his campaign, and a lot of research was put into it, but the person claiming the assault didn't even exist and gave a phony address."

Dozens of women have come forward and Republican-controlled Congress has done nothing at all but kept silent. If it were a Democrat in the Oval Office - say, President Obama - I think the Republican Congress would have voted for impeachment by now.

reply

None of them have been proven, none of the women will press charges because they know it didn't happen, it's all for the headlines.

Ever read Trump's accusers read their story, and then compare to one of Al Franken's accusers?

Lemme tell you, one is playing a bad acting role and the other is in actual pain. But of course I know a crusader like you doesn't really care about this stuff. Next you're going to tell me that WikiLeaks is really a Russian Spy Agency.

reply

"None of them have been proven, none of the women will press charges because they know it didn't happen, it's all for the headlines."

Franken's accuser never pressed charges. None of Bill Clinton's. As a matter of fact, none of the accusers of the Democrats ever pressed charges - I guess is it because they know it never happened. Thanks for clearing that up.
