So what will happen on February 8? Will T-rump & the Repubs shut down the federal government once again? The bill they agreed upon expires on February 8, then it's back to negotiations with DACA on the menu.
If the government shuts down once again - and T-rump just may want this to happen again, depending on the headlines and his need for distraction - will Mitch McConnell once again speak for the Republicans and object to an exception for the military (so they can get paid) like he did this past Friday? You know - the party tough on military support (cough*cough) did object to Democrat Senator McCaskill's proposal to keep the military - and their benefactors - paid during the shut down.
Dems didn't really cave - they settled for 17 days, and reassured CHIP. So now it's up to McConnell to do the right thing with DACA. Otherwise the GOP will shut down the government again.
Yes, they caved. They had CHIP on Friday when they turned the deal down. All they got for caving, was a promise of a vote, which means nothing. Even if it did pass in the Senate, it wouldn't make it through the house or the president's desk. And Schumer's fellow Dems know that.
The Democrat Party thrives on morons like you believing their bullshit.
They did last week too, and proved how weak and ineffective they truly are in government. They didn't even want to support the military. So if they are still 'holding all the cards', another shut down is inevitable.
"There was a hard line saying, 'Unless I get my way, I'm going to shut the government down, I'm going to risk default for the nation.' Now, anyone can do that. I believe in immigration reform. What if I persuaded my caucus to say 'I'm going to shut down the government, I'm not going to pay our bills unless I get my way.' It's a politics of idiocy, of confrontation, of paralysis.
It's a politics of idiocy! They're risking default for the nation! Paralysis!!!!!
What's Trump supposed to do with an admitted idiot like that? Let him get his way?
Not Trump's fault that Schumer is a liar and self-admittedly wants to risk default for the nation. reply share
The Democrats chose to put in peril all those Democrat constituents who depend on the government for their livelihood, and waste millions of dollars a day, just because they wanted to protect some illegal immigrants.
You play around with your little lies, claiming that it's a 'Republican Senate', when you know that, in reality, it takes 60 votes to pass these bills in the Senate. Or maybe you don't know, and you're just fucking stupid. Which is it?
The simple truth is, if the Republicans would cave on DACA, the Democrats would stop trying to shut down the government.
The Democrat Party thrives on morons like you believing their bullshit.
How weak is the Republican party (the majority in DC, controlling all branches of government) that they allowed the minority Dems take control and shut down the government? Just how weak and inept are they?
No matter how you slice it - whether they shut down the government or the Dems did - it doesn't look good for Rethuglicans, and looks great for the 'powerful' Dems.
The most basic reason is that the government gets funded by laws that have to go through Congress — and this time, Congress failed to pass a new government funding law before the old one expired. Hence, the shutdown.
The more fundamental reason, though, is that a long-simmering dispute between Democrats and Republicans over immigration has finally boiled over.
Democrats are trying to take a stand and force Republican leaders to make a deal giving deportation protections to hundreds of thousands of unauthorized immigrants who were brought to the US as children. These are the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) program recipients, commonly referred to as DREAMers.
The Trump administration decided to end this program, which would leave these young immigrants, many of whom grew up thinking of themselves as Americans, without legal protections. (Though the administration originally said it would sunset the program on March 5, a recent court ruling has led them to partially restart it for now.)
Until they see some progress on a deal protecting DACA recipients, most Democrats said they’d withhold their support from government funding bills. SINCE THESE BILLS NEED A 60-VOTE SUPERMAJORITY, AND THEREFORE AT LEAST NINE DEMOCRATIC VOTES, TO PASS THE SENATE, THIS CAUSED THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN.
(Uppercase added by me.)
So, to answer your dumbass point, it doesn't matter whether the Republicans have the White House and majorities in the Senate and House. If they don't have a supermajority in the Senate, the opposition party can block it.
And the DEMOCRATS have blocked it.
Fucking idiot.

Let's make this really easy so even you can understand:
Here is what Citizen T-rump said on "Fox & Friends" back in 2013, when the Republicans shut down the government (thanks to Ted Cruz) and T-rump put all the blame on President Obama's shoulders:
“Problems start from the top, and they have to get solved from the top, and the president’s the leader and he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead.”
Repeat his quote a few times to yourself, and let it really sink in. Maybe you should do this while looking at yourself in the mirror? It could help you.
Now, using his own words from roughly four years ago, let's cut to the chase and tell it as it is:
T-rump caused the shutdown because he's the leader, and he's got to lead. Instead he failed because he's a FAILURE.
But no matter what you want to say in denial - remember one thing: this shutdown only helps the Dems (for a number of reasons) in 2018.
"T-rump caused the shutdown because he's the leader"
You really are fucking stupid. There's NOTHING Trump can do about the Democrats putting illegal immigrants ahead keeping the government open. The ONLY way Trump could've kept the government open was to give the Democrats what they wanted.
In your fucking deranged mind, that would be 'leading.'
According to your dumbass logic, back in 2013 when the Republicans DID shut down the government over Obamacare, Obama wasn't LEADING because he didn't give the Republicans what they wanted.
"this shutdown only helps the Dems (for a number of reasons) in 2018"
Hahahahahahahahaha! Republicans are going to HAMMER Democrats on the FACT that THEY shut the government down over illegal immigration. You're severely retarded if you think that's going to help Democrats.
Government shutdowns in the past have proven to hurt the party responsible in the next election. And only libtards like you are blaming the Republicans. Anyone with a functioning brain can see the Democrats are responsible for this one. Why do you think Schumer put an end to it?
And make no mistake, Schumer was the one to put an end to it. He caved, and his fellow Dems are pissed at him. He was responsible for shutting down the government, and he was responsible for caving and opening it back up.
“Problems start from the top, and they have to get solved from the top, and the president’s the leader and he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead.”
- Donald J Trump discussing the 2013 government shutdown on FOX & FRIENDS, blaming President Obama.
"He did get Schumer in a room. Schumer refused to budge.
So you're saying that 'leading' is giving everyone what they want?"
I'm not saying anything - I'm just quoting T-rump from 2013. Can't you follow? If HE said the President has to lead, as all problems start with the President. So now he's sitting in the Oval Office and....failed...according to his own metric.
"Fucking moron."
That he is! (Congratulations - you called that one right.) But I didn't vote for him, so my conscience is clean.
He did lead. He got the parties together. It's not his fault Schumer refused to yield, and went ahead and shut down the government for some illegal immigrants. You can lead an idiot to the bargaining table, but you can't stop him from being an idiot.
Fucking moron.
The Democrat Party thrives on morons like you believing their bullshit.
Yes, he agreed to their bipartisan agreement. Then he changed his mind when Miller and Cotton told him it was the 'wrong' deal to make. So the bipartisan agreement was off the table and he brought us to a standstill. What a great leader, huh?
"You can lead an idiot to the bargaining table, but you can't stop him from being an idiot. "
That's just what Durbin & Graham did last week with T-rump, but you're right - couldn't stop T-rump from being an idiot.
