Underrated
seriously
shareHe was a good sheriff in Twin Peaks.
shareI don't think so. This was the crucial time in the USA development where Harry let what the loonies call the Deep State develop. The CIA and corporations started going around the world causing revolutions and assassinating people, and alienated South America and a lot of Africa and the rest of the world at a time when we were the model country. Now they are bringing all those tricks and games and playing them on us, the American people to screw us as well.
It is a crying shame that Henry Wallace was not the Democratic Candidate for President instead of Harry Truman. Truman was the choice of the "Bosses", the establishment.
A fucking Commie! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_Party_(United_States,_1948)
The Progressive Party of Henry Wallace was, and remains, controversial due to the issue of communist influence. The party served as a safe haven for communists, fellow travelers and anti-war liberals during the Second Red Scare. Prominent Progressive Party supporters included U.S. Representative Vito Marcantonio and writer Norman Mailer.[1]
You do what Republicans always do, try to smear out democracy until it includes fascism, and the use that to vilify democracy itself.
The supposed "communists" you refer to from the beginning of the 20th century to such efforts as HUAC, and McCarthyism ( supposedly acknowledged mistakes ) were basically the American working class who wanted fair treatment and rights in the workplace. Go back and read how we got the child labor laws, and the 40 hour workweek sometime as you seem to be ignorant about all that.
What you are tacitly supporting is the aristocracy that felt itself under attack and that it lost so much in the Civil War and the outlawing of slavery. All of that labor that was free - it built the US, and all they got for it was attacked, beaten, refused representation in government ( until FDR ). This is the inchoate beginnings of what you even call "the Deep State", but seem to know nothing about, ... a government above our nominal government ... the monied oligarchs that owns and drives our facade government, the people who make a mockery of American democracy. The Republican party carries the torch for their political interest and executes on their demands.
American communists are nothing to worry about, and especially since they were destroyed to destroy the labor unions to keep working class wages down, and to sustain a lower working class of minority laborers.
To imply that Henry Wallace was a communists is just pure bullshit. He was one of the quintessential American capitalists. Read about Wallace and how he was a masterful businessman and agriculturalist. Again, it is apparent you know nothing but how to name call and hate and undermine Americans. God knows for what reason you are such an a-hole, but pretty much everything you say is either a complete lie, or just incomplete enough to twist to serve your lying motives.
I can agree with this opinion but he was also critical of getting our grandfathers out of WW2
shareBecause he dropped the atomic bomb? That will always be a controversy and a human tragedy, but it did end the war, but I would definitely say that though I think it saved lives, it was not critical to ending the war. That would have happened within months, and the reason we dropped the bomb to end it faster was that the Russians were closing in on Japan and we wanted Japan in our hegemony/empire.
