Will he be the next big A-list actor?

He did an awesome job in A Serious Man. Love him as Arnold Rothstein in Boardwalk Empire.

Also enjoyed his smaller, supporting roles in Lincoln and Men in Black 3.

Clearly he's got a lot of talent.

Do you think in 10 years or so he'll be considered a major A-list actor? Clearly he's already an up-and-comer. My gut tells me yes, but I can never say for sure. He's not a spring chicken (he's 44) but still has a lot of potential ahead of him. And he doesn't have Clooney matinee idol looks and comes off somewhat quirky, but he's good looking enough.

Depends on what you mean A-list. I would be surprised if he became a moviestar or got superfamous, but yes I think he has potential and will likely get some good offerings.

I think he has a good chance to be a major character actor and pick up Supporting Actor Oscars. I just realized he was the actor for two of my favorite bit parts of last year - Griffin in Men in Black 3 and Yeaman in Lincoln.

But, actually, he seems to be better looking in real life than you'd expect from his movie make-up.

He has a bit part in Blue Jasmine where he plays a character who seems nice at first but you really want to smack him one later in the movie.

Answer to the OP: I really, really, REALLY hope so! He's nothing but amazing. I'm getting a Gene Wilder-vibe from him, and -- in my nerdy book -- that's like saying a band sounds like The Beatles; the highest regard anyone could get from yours truly.

Unfortunately Hollywood has changed a lot since Gene Wilder and you can't get on the "A list" anymore unless you look like a model or you can pass for one to the masses.

I don't even know if that's what he wants. I think he'll just keep on going for the roles he likes, whether or not it's a big movie.
