I just ordered 'Happiest Season' on Blu-ray

Yup, I just ordered Happiest Season on Blu-ray from Amazon. I have yet to see this film because I refuse to watch it on Hulu.
It is scheduled to arrive this Friday, April 9th, which just happens to be Kristen's 31st birthday.
I also think that the 9th is the official release date for Happiest Season on Blu-ray/DVD.

In addition, I have recently ordered Seberg on DVD, which is scheduled to arrive sometime between April 12th and April 27th.
No, this film has not yet been released on home video here in the U.S., so I did the next best thing - I bought the Region 2 European version. You see, in late March I replaced my ageing Blu-ray player with a Region-free Blu-ray/DVD player because there were several films that I wanted to own that were not available as either a Region A Blu-ray or a Region 1 DVD.
Like Happiest Season, I have also yet to see Seberg. I wasn't able to get to see it in a theater, and I refused to stream it on Amazon.
Call me old fashioned, but I much prefer to own physical media rather than stream.

Other Kristen films that I have bought in the past few weeks are the Criterion Collection Blu-rays of ...
Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper and Certain Women.

And speaking of Seberg, I also bought the Criterion Collection Blu-ray of the Jean Seberg film, Breathless.
Of all of Jean's films, that is the one I wanted the most.

So I now own eight Criterion Collection Blu-rays. They are ...
Breathless (1960)
Walkabout (1971)
Local Hero (1983)
Mulholland Drive (2001)
Ghost World (2001)
Clouds of Sils Maria (2014)
Personal Shopper (2016)
Certain Women (2016)

Mulholland Drive is a masterpiece

Agreed on Mulholland Drive! Great movie. Been a while since I've seen it.

A handful of David Lynch's films are part of the Criterion Collection: Mulholland Falls, The Elephant Man, Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

Nice CKid! Enjoy, and let us know what you think. It looks good, entertaining but I haven't seen it yet.

Some of my favorite movies are on Criterion:
Seven Samurai
Barry Lyndon
Night Train to Munich
The Great Dictator
Charade
The Big Chill
The Great Escape
Rosemary's Baby
The Game
City Lights
Dressed to Kill
The Friends of Eddie Coyle
Modern Times

So it's an honor than a bunch of Kristen's movies are part of the Criterion Collection, my fave being Clouds of Sils Maria.

reply

Nice LL and CK, for those Criterion films. Lots of good ones there!

Well, my Blu-ray copy of Happiest Season has arrived and the first thing I noticed is that it is definitely not a U.S. release.
My first clue was that the front cover states that the film is rated M for Coarse Language.
Nary a G, PG, PG-13 or R in sight.

Also, the following quote appears: '"a lot of heart and some full-throated laughs" - news.com.au'
A U.S. release would have had a review quote from a U.S. source, not an Australian one.

Turning the package over, the following words are on the back cover: "Recommended for mature audiences."

Then, closer inspection of the small print on the back cover finds the following ...
"Film copyright 2020 TriStar Productions, Inc. and eOne Features LLC. All Rights Reserved.
Film Running Time: 1 hr 42 mins approx. Colour / BD-25" (yup, that's colour with a u)
"Packaging Design copyright 2021 Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
Australia Pty Limited. All Rights Reserved."

Then the languages are listed as, English, French, Italian and Castilian.
Castilian, eh? Here in the States, we call that language Spanish.

Therefore, this apparently is an Australian release.
Fortunately, it is a "region-free" release as the letters A, B and C are also on the back cover.

If truth be told, I'm finding it kinda cool that this is an Australian release. Afterall, Kristen is 1/2 Australian.
Meanwhile, I do believe that in addition to Happiest Season, I shall also watch The Cake Eaters today.
This in honor of the fact that Kristen shall be having some Birthday cake today. ;-)

P.S. I note with interest that according to IMDb, Spencer is now listed to be in Post-Production.
Those photos that have been released are really good.

EDIT: It is now two hours since I posted the above and what did I just find in my mailbox?
The Region 2 (European) DVD copy of Seberg, that's what.
This was scheduled to arrive sometime between April 12th to April 27th, so this is a nice surprise indeed.
Oh yeah, this particular DVD is rated 15 for strong language, discrimination and nudity.
Definitely the first time I've ever seen the word discrimination used in a film rating.

Heh, pretty cool that you checked it out and found that you had an Australian release. Yeah, Kristen's mom is from there.

I was recently thinking about the film The Cake Eaters . Good Indy film, good characters, character development and story line.

Enjoy the movies! :)

Also CK, you mentioned that today is Kristen's Birthday. She's 31.
