Not a huge fan but I have to concede she was pretty amazing in that.
shareShe was the best thing about the cake eaters. And I'll be honest I don't quite care for much of Kristen's pre Twilight work. Except for speak and the cake eaters and the yellow handkerchief as well.
shareFor those who insist that Kristen plays the same character in all her films, I suggest they watch The Cake Eaters where she convincingly portrays a character suffering from the debilitating neuromuscular disease Friedreich's ataxia. Another role where she obviously does not play the same character is when she assumed the role of Joan Jett in The Runaways.

I really liked Kristen in The Cake Eaters. She was a in her mid teens and met with some kids who had the illness. She did a great job in portraying that illness. It's a small Indie movie and has several story lines to it with the other cast members.
