Bull's eye

That's right. Whoever is responsible of casting and hiring Toby Stephens to play Flint, has hit the bull's eye. This is the exact image of captain Flint (only older) I've had in mind when I read "Treasure island" for the first time as a child.
Even the gay joke could not ruin that image. Toby Stephens is THAT convincing as Flint.

I am willing to explain the "gay joke" part though... No matter who's behind it, he is an obvious gay himself. But... (I looove this particular "but"!) he WASN'T one when he read the book as a child. And if by any chance he did not read it back then (or at all), I can only feel very, deeply, truly sorry for him...:) Anyway, it seems the writers came back to their seances and even tried to cover up the gay mistake in the new season.

Apart from that, the show is one of the very few, offering more than one layer and is getting even deeper. And a big deal of that credit goes to the remarkable performance by Toby Stephens. I do not know what kind of rewards television stars get, but he deserves so much more than many Hollywood "icons" to be recognized worldwide for his performance in "Black Sails".

Great actor, great show, the greatest Flint ever. :)
Thank you.
