shareWell, I must admit then, that you are VERY good at that, and I enjoy watching it.
sharePerfect!..... He does that and he sucks and this maybe why it took him so long to get a job. He isn't very good and looks couldn't help him go further. I'm glad he has work though. I can' picture anyone else playing Damon even though I wish they would have cast someone else.
sharelmao your lost, let me direct you to the zoey dechanel board over here jealous one...
Jayne Mansfield: A woman should be pink and cuddly for a man.
RIGHT! i am an ian fan...but just started watching the vampire diaries on netflix and me and my husband are making a tally of every single time they do a close up on his eyes looking all wide and crazy unnecessarily. it's a lot. even in scenes where he's being cheeky and clever he will just randomly bust out the crazy eyes and for some reason they then do a close up of it for no apparent reason at all. i feel like it's really bad editing of his mediocre acting. (i'm a fan, but let's face it he's only an iffy tv actor whose incredibly charming and good looking) i've seen a lot of things he's done and i don't remember him doing it that much ever before on lost or other stuff i've seen him in.
shareA lot of emphasis are put on Damon's eyes in the books. They are terrific by the way, the books.
Personally, I think that Somerhalder is a very good choice for Damon. In the book his eyes are often described as black. But I think Ian's eyes are far prettier.
Each to their own as I say.
As for his acting. He also seems to portray the character, as written in the book EXTREMELY well.
Good casting for Damon, Stefan, Matt and Alaric.
You mean this?

Yeah it's a bit much - especially put it together like this... Yet plenty of girls love it no matter what, hmm...
It is good you compared Damon with Boone in Lost - nothing in common really! Kinda proves Ian is not a one-trick actor, doesn't it? I suspect there are at least two reasons for this "crazy eye thing":
1. It seems to help portray a deceitful, arrogant character. Physically Ian is an excellent match for the book (minus the eye color and physical height of course). Yet the personality needs to be completely different from Stephen who is always warm & sincere. I vaguely remember words in the book describing Damon as "piercing eyes" that's dark and intense, "sarcastic", "smirking", "a flash of smile that was there for just half of a second" ...
2. It's how the director likes it? In the book Damon is distrusted, even despised by pretty much everyone. Yet the Damon on TV has way too much charm that fans are mostly rooting for him to get the girl. If Ian didn't act at least a bit annoying, the writer would probably have a hard time justify Elena's rejection, haha!
~~~I'm into the bad, mad & dangerous
because I'm good, sane & harmless~~~
I went through all three seasons again and the eyes and smirk thing do get weary and tiring. His character is the best when he opens himself up for example in the bathtub with Andy, with Rose and in the hotel bed with Elena. Hmm I just noticed a pattern.
